Carly Rae Jepsen Joins Rock Band ‘Train’ In Backing Out of Boy Scouts Jamboree Over Gay Ban
Carly Rae Jepsen has joined pop rock group Train in backing out of the Boy Scouts’ 2013 National Scout Jamboree after the urging of gay Eagle Scout Derek Nance and GLAAD’s Change.org petition.
Tweeted Jepsen:
“As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer…”

- good for her!
- Dont Call her maybe!
- Awesome that they stood up against the Boyscouts blatant discrimination. Sure the scouts are a private enterprise they can legally do as they please, but if they are going to be so prejudiced against gay kids there is no reason why society shouldn't punish them for it.
- Good for her. Good for Train. The BS will get a couple of big country acts to perform. Country music hates the gays and loves 'merca.
- That's surprisingly hip for the BSA to even try to book acts like that. Back in 1973 all we got was Bob Hope and some Astronauts.
- I never liked Train's music but good for them. Most of these boy scouts weren't even born when "Drops of Jupiter" was a hit.
- Not a huge fan, but will have to buy their music to show support!
- Do i see Train getting new fans over this? If Nickelback did the same how would you react?
- Me too, r7!
- We're not gonna play Sun City!
- Her song, Call Me Maybe, was voted 29th best song of 2012 by Pitchfork.
- I support them both now because of this. Come on guys, they backed out of a show which could have made them more money but they chose to stand up for our rights! Thank you!
- I had a couple of both of their songs illegally downloaded from a while back. Off to go buy the legal versions now, even though I don't listen to them anymore.
- I love the video, because of the hot gay guy.
