I think it's irresponsible to lead people on when it comes to this idea of rags to riches. It's very Republican and very immoral, though making the distinction that it belongs in both camps is verging on tedious these days.
As r1 points out, it is very easy to go from riches to rags. This is why the rich always attempt play unfairly. It is against nature to be in abundance for a lifetime, much less several. Financial dynasties are, by far, the only rich cohort that does not occur by pure chance.
