• I know a guy whose life paralled mine up to age 23 - same major, 2 years toward a PhD (during The War.) He went on to finish his doctorate, become a distinguished professor at an outstanding University for 40 years, widely written and read. I dropped out of grad school, got a job, stayed with (and rose) with the same firm for 16 years. Got tired of working, quit at 40. He's acxcomplished, I'm not, but we're both fairly content.
