Anyone have a good recipe for this? I first ate this at a hole in the wall Cuban restaurant in Miami and have been trying to recreate it ever since. I like it spicy with a lot of onions and peppers. Thank you.
The internet is your friend...there are several websites dedicated to Cuban food.
The first thing you need to buy is an old rope.
They usually sell them in the Cuban markets on the cleaning supplies aisle.
OP, don' listen to R2. You don't need to buy an old rope. You just need old clothes.
Yes, I've tried the internet and found nothing special. Was hoping someone might have a great family recipe. I'm now making another version with sherry which may be the ingredient I've been missing.
Let us know how it turns out, I also love ropa vieja.
PS, I once got a recipe for it from a straight friend's Cuban GF's mother - first ingredient was jarred tomato sauce. No thx.
