• Her appearance at the 1983 Tony Awards was perhaps the most reviled "hosting" job ever for that ceremony. Sondheim even wrote a letter to the committee saying it was a disgrace that awards were left off the telecast so there could be taped segments about how Franklin tried making it on Broadway. I always thought it was hilarious when she was on ODAAT she talked about how she hated LA and television but wanted to grow name recognition so she could live the rest of her life on the Broadway stage. Of course, she never even got close to the bright lights again.
