What's your race (Poll inside)

The poll in the other thread didn't work. I made a new one and state your ethnicity (i.e. country of origin) in the comment section.

• R5 most be neither American nor Canadian. Hispanic has ALWAYS been a race. Middle Eastern, I think, is the newly coined race since there are so many new immigrants from Middle East and South Asia in Canada in the last couple of years. I think South Asians and the Middle East is the largest ethnic minority in Canada.

• Don't reinforce the silly concept of race. A nationality poll would be far more interesting.

• I am American. Hispanic is not a race, it is an ethnicity. Hispanics can be black or white and I guess Asian too. If I'm not mistaken Middle Easterners are white.

• I agree with R7 & R8. Hispanic is not a race. Neither is Middle Eastern. Most Americans of Middle Eastern descent classify themselves as "White" on the Census. Most Brazilian citizens identify themselves as "White." All of this illustrates how these race categories are arbitrary, outdated, and pointless.

• Latino is also an ethnicity. If you're going to buy into the construct of race beyond the human race, there are 3. Black, Asian and Caucasian. There a Black Hispanic People and White Hispanic People. If you are from the Middle East, you are Caucasian. Learn the difference between race and ethnicity.

• This is the first time I've ever heard that Middle Eastern person are white people. I've never heard a Middle Eastern person identify themselves as White in real life. Kim Kardashian is Middle Eastern and no one considers her white.

• Hispanic has never been considered a race, it has always meant people of spanish decent who were caucasian in Europe and some indian mix in the Americas. The United States has such poorly educated people, it's not surprising that all the made up names cause confusion. I mean, what the hell is a latino. • Technically there are only three races: Mongoloid, Caucasoid, and Negroid. Everything else is a mixture. South Asians and Arabs are Caucasians. American Indians are Mongoloid (came over on the land bridge from Asia.)

• OP, there are only THREE races on this planet: Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and Negroid. People are either one of these or a mix of these. Middle Easterners are Caucasoid. In fact the Caucasus Mountains where the term comes from IS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Most East Indians are Caucasoid, but a smaller percentage are Mongoloid and even a smaller percentage of southern Indians are Negroid. It goes on and on like this. Get educated.
