Van Cliburn, brilliant pianist, has died.

July 12, 1934 – February 27, 2013

• RIP, my parents had his autograph from a concert they attended when I was a small child. He was brilliant indeed.

• Closeted. I'm glad the NYTimes obituary mentions that he was gay.
