The abortion debate?

For or against? I'm mostly for, I believe has the right to choose whether or not she should have children. And plus, I don't think it's good for children to grow up in dysfunctional families. What's your rationale behind your choice?

• It's ghastly, but so are unwanted children and the thought of government demanding forced births of women who do not want to have a child. It doesn't matter what the law is, women will not give birth to children they do not want. Before Roe v. Wade, plenty of women had abortions, even if they died trying. We can go back there tomorrow.

• In my case, I think a parent should be allowed to abort her child up to 6 years of age. Everytime I look at my little Johnny, I can't help but think HE was the one who should have been aborted.

• Men should have no say in what a woman chooses to do in such a situation. The last time I checked reality, biological males can not give birth. We don't have ovaries, eggs, birth canal...none of that. Everybody might have a personal opinion about abortion, but it doesn't really matter because the decision is ultimately up to the person pregnancy truly affects. The problem is that people are under the impression that this is any of their business in the first damn place.

• Abortion is just an ugly fact of life. Outlawing it will not stop it. It will just make it illegal again and the poor women will suffer and the rich ones will still have safe ones available. Abortion has been around for thousands of years and it's not going away.

• i find it funny how people are all bleeding hearts over sandy hook but when it comes to babies that exact same heart magically turns into a lump of fucking coal. wow! if you don't have respect for life in utero at the very beginning how in the hell can you have it anywhere else. you can't. if a child isn't safe in the mother's womb which ought to be the safest place in the world mind you then why should the child be safe anywhere else. the child shouldn't be. this is just the logic of it. abortion not only wreaks havoc on the fetus but also on the mother both physically and mentally, the psychic waste of which always lingers. every action and decision have an inherent message. what is the message that is sent when we say killing babies is ok? and let's not hide behind the euphemism of 'pro-choice'. let's call it exactly what it is. and yes i'm gay and i said it because it had to be said.

Individuals can disagree with abortion all they like but they do not have the right to prevent another person from getting one. Also, considering natural resources are limited and the human population is already overpopulated (and actively destroying the planet) decreasing the birthrate is beneficial to the earth and our ecosystem.

• Compared to a lot of countries in Europe, especially the ones in Scandinavia, the US is light years behind in this debate. Whether abortion is "wrong" or not is basically not even up for discussion, it is simply a basic human right. In most developed countries it is not something people sit around and discuss on the news, and the fact that they do in America is almost amusing. NOT saying Europe is some kind of paradise, but they way this issue is handled varies to a great extent.
