Gastric bypass question
Is it true that it makes you smell bad and makes your hair look awful ? Can those things be avoided?
- Anyone?
- IT depends....
On what you eat and how you take care of yourself post surgery.
- Bitches, I NEVER had or needed gastric bypass. So don't go there!
Cheryl
- I had it in December and no effect on my smell or hair.
- How has it been for you, R4?
- A friend had it done(age 30ish) and her hair got super thin. I mean she had visible bald areas on the top of her head. It kind of shocked me.
She has also passed out a couple of times. The last time no one was around and she really hit hard.
- If you make sure you get enough protein every day (and the amount you'll need post-surgery is much more than what you've been getting all your life pre-surgery) then you'll have no trouble with hair thinning or hair loss.
It's all about increasing your protein intake (hair is protein after all)

- take 5000 mcgs of biotin post surgery once a day along with all the other recommended vitamins and it will not be a problem and make sure u get in 60 grams of protein a day. Use shakes if u have to.

- [quote]no effect on my smell
It doesn't effect the way YOU smell, but it effects other that have to smell your stench.
Here's a radical diet, just eat less.
- Whenever you lose a large amt of weight, you will shed a lot of hair at some point. It's usually a few months after the weight loss began. It's too soon for r4 to weigh in on the subject.
