Did John McCain and Dianne Feinstein cost "Zero Dark Thirty" Oscars?
It seemed to have a lot of momentum at the start of awards season, lots of great reviews and it won some critics awards.
Then came the "torture" scandal, and all of the awards hype went right down the toilet.
What really happened?
- It was offensive in that it glorified the use of torture...which did NOT lead to actionable intelligence.
- it was a glorified infomercial
- Argo was the glorified infomercial. ZDT asks some hard fucking questions about what our government is up to.
But no, no one listens to those two gasbags.
- How does it glorify torture to make it look like a fucking horror? ZDT is clear in its position that blind luck, hard work and a lot of big bribes got the intel on Bin Laden. In fact, it makes a pretty good case that if it wasn't for the Chastain character he'd still be alive.
- How the hell did ZDT glorify torture? Did you even watch it?
- It did not glorify torture but it did link it to finding Osama which is not true. And it was made with the help of the CIA. The CIA was heavily involved in its making. Think on that.
But the real reason it lost is that it just was not a crowd pleaser.

- It wasn't very good. That may have factored in to it.
- It didn't link torture to finding obl.
