A PATCH OF BLUE

This 1965 film stars Sidney Poitier and Elizabeth Hartman in an unlikely love story between an African-American man and blind woman. Hartman was Oscar nominated for best actress. Shelley Winters, playing her hellish mom, won best supporting actress. It's on right now on Turner Classic Movies. Part of its "31 Days of Oscar."

• Great movie. Great cast.

• She won the Golden Globe for it. Psychiatric problems--threw herself out of a fifth floor window at age 43. I'm waiting for BLOW UP to come on. I LOVE "31 Days of Oscar."
