The Richard Pryor Show

This was television at its finest. I can't believe that it only lasted four episodes, but I guess I'm not that surprised. I love the way the sketches shift and wind up leaving you thinking about what they were truly about. The Black Death skit and the drunk at the bar going home to Maya Angelou. Playing for cute laughs then becoming powerful, or in the case of Black Death, downright disturbing. Anyone who thinks today's SNL is good need to sit down and watch this.

• Those four episodes were great. I wonder what the show would have looked like in its 38th season?
