In my state, students need 4 years of English, 4 years of social studies, 4 years of math, and 4 years of science to graduate. (2 years of foreign language are also 'required', although it is possible to fight the counselors and graduate without them.) Recent proposals might change that, though, to 4 years of English, 3 years of social studies, 3 years of math, 2 years of (absolutely required) foreign language, and just 2 years of science. Does your state have stringent or weak graduation requirements?
