My bf is 5'2" and his clothes never fit.

He's fit, but the clothes hang off him. He looks rumpled, even when wearing a suit. Do short guys need to have their clothes tailored or should he be shopping in the boys department? His height is a sensitive subject, but he looks slovenly when we go out.

• Short is one thing but you didn't tell us about his body. Can you provide a shot of his naked body?

• Tailoring will solve the problem, give him a tailored outfit for a gift WITHOUT COMMENT and he will see the difference. Boys are not cut correctly.

• OP, your boyfriend doesn't care how his pants fit and uses bad retailers as an excuse. Every short gay knows how to use a sewing machine. You have to know how to tailor sleeves on shirts as well as jackets to avoid Shirley Partridge blousiness at the wrist. You have to make darts at the back of your midsection to avoid the same bunchiness at the waist. You have to hem, cuff and sometimes re-seam the legs of your pants. If you have an ass, you sometimes have to bring in the waist.

• There's a thing called a tailor at every department store and dry cleaner. They've existed for hundreds of years for a reason. The entire world knows this. You're gay and you don't?

• I'm that short, OP, and yes, tailored is a must. Some brands are really great for shorter men (Topman, some H&M, All Saints) but most mainstream brands are not.
