"Mad Max" Came Out In 1979?

I thought it was an 80s movie. Wonder how the remake is going to fare. Same people behind the original are behind the remake.

• The sequels ""The Road Warrior" and "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" came out in the 80s.

• Maybe that's what I was thinking of. The new remake is a remake of the 1979 film.

• If you're American, you probably thought MAD MAX was an '80s film because it was released in the US in the summer of 1980. The film came and went w/o much fanfare and it wasn't until the far superior ROAD WARRIOR came out in '82 and became a cult hit that there was renewed interest in MAD MAX. It was then re-released in '83 and did better box office the second time around.
