Can someone explain why "Terms of Endearment" looks the way it does?
Okay, that is cool!
R1 I had the same question. That said, this is VERY clever!
Why is the gold man missing for 2001?
The only one I'm not clear about is 1940. The winner that year was Rebecca--the statuette is a woman; is that the dress the 2nd Mrs. de Winter wears to the costume ball Rebecca wore the year before, the one that makes Max so upset?
R4 Because of the plot of "A Beautiful Mind."
R4 A Beautiful Mind = schizophrenic who hallucinated people
Uh, some of them look like aliens.
And the Crash one is black! As subtle as the movie I guess.
The one for West Side Story looks like an Olympics icon.
Shirley MacLaine and the three grandchildren?
I don't get Ordinary People/1980.
And of course EVERYONE knows what should be portrayed for 2005 . . . two guys nuzzling!
R5, I think that must be Mrs. Danvers. If it were the Joan Fontaine Rebecca dress, it would have the hat, which was the most noteworthy part of it.
Terms of Endearment isn't about Jack's character, though, R22.
[quote]Brilliant. I love it. Maybe the show won't suck this year. Oh who am I kidding, of course it will suck.
What the fuck does the one sheet have to do with the show? The Oscars are The Gay Super Bowl and this year they are going to actually treat it like it is. They are doing a tribute to movie musicals, with the actual casts, Streisand, Adele and Shirley Bassey are singing, produced by two huge gay producers. It will be fabulous.
i like the Happy Dolls.
And rumor is Daniel Craig will be appearing nude in the James Bond salute.
If Brokeback Mountain had won we'd see two statuettes butt fucking each other for 2005.
What happened to the '8' years?
All the years are there. Did you scroll to the right when you enlarged it?
1940 is indeed the dress Joan Fontaine wears to the costume ball copied from the old portrait in the hallway at Manderley. It does not have the hat, but it is an off the shoulder dress and it has a flower thing on the side of the lower part.
Mrs. Danvers would never ever wear an off-the-shoulder dress, even if her life depended on it.
great idea; poor execution

No c'mon you know they can't do that on national TV, however he will emerge in slow motion from the orchestra pit in the blue Speedo.
