Sen. Levin (D-MI) makes opening remarks calling for confirmation.
Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) outlines his opposition to confirmation.
Sen. Reed (D-RI) speaking in favor.
Sen. McCain (R-AZ) says Hagel gave most unimpressive appearance before the Committee he's ever seen in his career and will vote against confirmation.
McCain was sufficiently impressed with Sarah Palin to make her his running mate. What does that say about his judgment?
Sen. Shaheen (D-NH) speaking in favor.
Sen. Ayotte (R-NH) speaking against confirmation.
Sen. Hagan (D-NC) speaking in favor of confirmation.
Sen. Kaine (D-VA) speaking in favor.
Ooh! Ms. Graham (R-SC) now making bitchy remarks about Hagel.
Interesting defense strategy by King: Hagel doesn't know what words mean.
Sen. King (I-ME) speaking in favor.
Sen. 'diaper fetish' Vitter (R-LA) now speaking.
Jews won't be happy if he gets the job.
Which is why you're all so intent on him (a Republican with a rating of zero from the Human Rights Campaign) getting the job, r13.
Sen. Manchin (D-WV) voting in favor.
Wow, Carl Levin is PISSED.
The Voice of the Night
Sen. Nelson (D-FL) ripping Sen. Cruz (R-TX) a new one.
Good for our astronaut Senator.
I can't believe Cruz. Feh.
The Voice of the Night
Sen. Cruz implied that Hagel might be receiving money from the Iranians in secret bank accounts!
Sen. Nelson ripped Cruz a new one for his Joe McCarthy tactics!
Sen Hagel is an honorable man. He served his country and no one on this committee should impugn his integrity
He doesn't suck Israel's dick. Confirm him!
Sen. McCaskill rips Hagel's opponents a new one
Whereas r21 sucks David Duke's.
The Hagel enthusiasts on this thread are really fond of the phrase "ripping someone a new one". Strange how they seem to have missed that Hagel himself has been ripped about a dozen "new ones" by one.
[quote]Sen Hagel is an honorable man.
Exactly, that's the problem. Modern Repubs and honor, don't mix.
[quote]Whereas [R21] sucks David Duke's.
Go die in a grease fire, you un-American douche bag!
r24 = Freeper and Zionist freak.
Hagel and Obama are not going to be jerked around by Bibi.
r24, if you want to serve another country, get the fuck out!
Hagel is not an honorable man. I believe he was in the Senate thanks to fraud and he institutionalized vote fraud in this country on behalf of the Republicans. He also almost certainly massacred civilians during Vietnam. Personally.
R27 = Israel-obsessed freak who doesn't seem to notice that Zionist Democrats support Hagel
[quote][R27] = Israel-obsessed freak who doesn't seem to notice that Zionist Democrats support Hagel
Those who are Israel-obsessed are the Republicans who brought up the country more than Afghanistan, drones, or any other issue at the hearings. The number of times was staggering.
Israel is doomed, and they know it, which is why Bibi was backing Romney. Our President is no fan of Israel or AIPAC, and now our Defense Secretary won't seek their permission for anything either. Maybe Bibi should have shut his frigging mouth and stopped trying to bully President Obama.
Maybe we'll get some sanity in our foreign policy again. Israel needs to stop getting those huge welfare checks from us (bigger than any other country), and learn to fend for themselves -- after all, they're supposedly so powerful... yeah, thanks to the US. Debt up to our eyeballs, no universal healthcare (which they have), and we're taking orders from their stooges. Hopefully that era will now come to a close.
Hagel was put on the record regarding gay servicemen and women. That was all that I asked for. He is more than qualified, and the Right hates him. He's perfect. He was one of the few that wouldn't back W.
Zionist Democrats supported Hagel's nomination.
And what you don't know about Israel is a lot. Israel is the strongest democracy in the region. It produces new inventions and developments in computing that benefit the whole world. You obsess so much about the Israelis you don't like that you can't see how well Israel does year after year.
