What are your tips for gay travel?

Are there regions or countries that should be entirely avoided because of homophobia? And in particular, how do you suss out that a B&B or small inn is gay-friendly?

• Do not travel to any Caribbean island where English is the official or predominant local language. Former British colonies are the most homophobic (Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman).

• Just curious, in many of those African countries aren't there tribes that still have very minimal Western contact? Do they practice homosexuality at all, and are they subject to their countries' arcane laws?

• Wear a dark colored, single pattern caftan and only small earrings to avoid detection or unwanted attention.
