• I only knew Dame Shirley from her Bond songs until I visited NYC the first time and saw a drag queen perform "Gone" and I had to know more. Got one of her greatest hits CDs and loved it. One of my best friends is obsessed with her and I gave him her biography for his birthday. My favorite chapter was called "Shirley Meets Balls", but sadly it was just about some boyfriend of hers who had "Balls" for a nickname.

She is such a legend in the UK a massive crowd of drunk youngsters at a rock festival are gagging for her. Bitch flies in a helicopter wearing a ball gown and mud boots and puts on a show that would put performers half her age to shame. She rules. I can't imagine any pop diva in her age range being asked to perform at a US rock festival, let alone get this kind of reaction. To me this would be like Liza or Babs showing up at Lallapalooza. • Wow, thanks r52 (and 50). That was really amazing. I agree, I can't think of that happening at a US rock festival. I was especially impressed that she closed with a medley that finished with "I Am What I Am" and had the rock-n-roll crowd roaring.
