The missing "Murder She Wrote" episode

"The Case of the Hissing Eldergay" Jessica goes to the city to do a little nightclub dancing with her second cousin twice removed, Vance. Vance, a caftan sporting eldergay, is suspected of murder most foul when the young argyle-wearing preppy stud Andrew is found DEAD! I can't remember this one so well....who were the guest stars? And who were the suspects?

• Vance's dinner party guests were James Coco as his BFF, Ruth Roman as the building super, and Lance Kerwin and Tammy Lauren as his clueless (or were they?) newlywed neighbors.

• This episode was meant as a -- wait for it -- backdoor pilot, but it never got picked up. Even though Coco was a good friend of La Lansbury, she found the subject matter distasteful, so when the pilot failed, she had episode removed from the domestic syndication package. It's only seen now overseas -- that's why the version on YouTube has Greek subtitles.

• Actually, Dan Gaulthier played the preppy stud, Andrew. R3 must be thinking of a "Love Boat" episode.

• It turned out that Lauren Holly, who played the understudy/restaurant hostess was the murderer. The chase scene at the end almost killed poor Angela!
