The reason Madonna is better than all of these however technically more proficient singers is that Madonna OWNED both her perversity and her tastefulness. Michelle Obama will never present more than 1 face to the world - the face of somebody who would censor the truth of what we are, that which only artists and certainly not politicians can tell us. Michelle Obama therefore is not to be trusted when judging matters of performance, not that Beyonce is expressing anything particularly subversive anyway. But do you think Michelle Obama would tweet that message had it been Madonna or Britney, the more provocative entertainers of our time? Hell no.

Britney 2001 VMA - Eve in the garden with the snake. 2 days later 9/11 happened - paradise lost, the fall of man -- catch my drift? During the height of the war and the terrible Bush years, Britney shaved her head as if to purge us of our fallen state. I hope you are beginning to understand. Michelle Obama is not to be trusted. Those who don't seem to be wholly articulate or trustworthy - like Britney and Madonna - are the ones we should trust, for they tell us who we are.
