Our sun will blow up. First it will stop being so sunny. Don't you watch The Universe OP? It explains everything.

End of a civilization.
The human race has survived quite a few ecological disasters without the technology we currently have. At one point we were down to 5,000 individuals and managed to recover.
I don't think we will have an end - that's a construct of the Abrahamic religions; humanity will ebb and flow, with high points and low ones. Here a great civilization, there a new dark age. (In fact, this true today.)
Eventually, we will wander out and find a practical way to visit other worlds and be free of our environment.
Even an asteroid or a comet hitting the earth will not cause our extinction.
For humanity to cease to exist it would have to be an astromonical disaster on a great scale - like something affecting the Sun, even a little bit; or a wandering planet entering our orbit.
Otherwise ... we're good.
Coronal mass ejection
a virus
No virus is going to kill everyone, even the Black Death only killed 1 out of every 3. And, that was in medieval times.
Something like what r24 said. I believe it would be something with the Sun - a mere hiccup for Sun can reduce the Earth to a cinder. It could happen in an instant and we may recognize the warning signs if any.
Viruses are getting stronger nowadays
The shameless commingling of the races and sleeping with the help. God created class systems and racism for a reason.
R28=Ann Romney.
I kind of agree with R23 as far as ELEs go. But I think our planet is dying a very slow death right now, and we as a species will continue to adapt for a while. I don't really expect the sun to blow up or some unexpected asteroid to collide with us. I think there will always be life on Earth but how that manifests itself 1,000 years from now ot 2,000 years from now I cannot begin to imagine.
Silly R23, a comet passing too close could strip the atmosphere off our planet and we'd all be dead in 2 minutes.
I don't think humans will be extinct, but I think the world will become less inhabitable, and probably soon. All it takes is some crazy guy to travel to the major cities spreading anthrax or some new mutate virus. He could cripple the major cities, and disrupt the world as we know it. He could wipe out whole cities in days. It could probably happen now, if someone was intent on doing it. The technology is already available.
Whenever Cumbre Vieja decides to slough off la Isla de La Palma, it won't be a happy time on the east coasts of North and South America. But human civilization will go on.

Or we will evolve to be smart enough to realize that colonization never ultimately works, better to stay put, clean your house and observe from afar
One of my college biology professors, in the mid-90s, told the class that our generation's grandchildren's grandchildren would experience the Earth burning to destruction due to the Sun's rays. The older I get, the more that haunts me.
Where did you go to college, R37, Whatsamatta U?
Fukushima. Or some other nuclear power plant meltdown. That shit gets into the air and oceans, travels around the globe by wind and gets dumped onto the earth via rainfall. Eventually it's in everything we grow, eat and drink. Give it a few generations and you end up with mutated offspring. It could take a few hundred years for civilization to completely collapse and everyone to starve to death, die of cancer or what have you, but once the entire global environment is poisoned from radioactive particles it's just a matter of time. You can't clean it up and it never goes away.
I agree with r39 - and it's already under way.
I think it's a race between global climate change, a massive pandemic, and a killer asteroid strike. With a pinch of potential Super-Volcano thrown in.
Even if human kind survives somehow, it'll be a handful, and they'll be thrown back into the stone age... and it's doubtful that society will ever fully recover.

Genetic manipulation. You know that if they can do it, they will do it. And inevitably there will be "accidents".
