They do bite and salmonella outbreaks have been tied to hedghogs. They live 3 to 5 years which is a long commitment for an animal that doesn't play catch or bark when someone tries to break into the house.

A friend used to work for an animal rescue place. I'll never forget how disgusted she was when people would bring in hedgehogs. She'd always wonder aloud why on earth were these ever domesticated.They live in a box or empty aquarium, which doesn't sound like a nice life for a living being, does it? Find another pet. They curl up into a prickly ball when you pick them up. They belong in the wild. Find aother pet, please.
