Has this ever happened to you? Your boyfriend does something embarrassing in public and suddenly you are sort of ashamed of being with them and their allure or appeal decreases.

• Sure my BF has done embarrassing things in public. So have I. It is just being human. Or do you mean you are concerned with what other people will think of you?

• yes...but it was when I was a lot younger and it was guys I dated for a pretty short time. I think I was looking for a reason to end those. Pretty immature of me but understandable at the same time.

• Sounds like OP is the one who is embarrassed, not the boyfriend. And what OP SHOULD be embarrassed about is using "them" and "their" instead of "him" and "his." Surely there is no need to attempt to be gender-neutral when discussing one's boyfriend. And equally surely the singular is appropriate.

• It's usually just a red-flag that you're not that into him.

• I think I know what you mean, OP! I have had two different guys with whom I went out to eat and they acted kind of "nelly" to the wait staff and it kind of embarrassed me at the time.
