Twitter was a nonstarter for me from the get-go.
Stupid.
why would it be over? Still my fave social network. Starting to like G+ more though.
The size limitation was supposed to make everyone more concise. Didn't happen that way.
Don't agree at all.
Twitter is the new Myspace.
Ghost town full of tumbleweeds
Yeah, it's kind of losing its allure.
I blame Chris Brown and his retarded fangurls.
Twitter is so last year. It's for old people like Oprah and Anderson Cooper.
It really is MySpace. It'll be done in a couple of years.
Elders are so silly.
Only a fucking idiot would call Twitter "over."
It's huge in media and political circles.
I go on and off liking it. Like R13 said, it's huge with media and politics. The thing I hate about it though is that it's become the ultimate tool for shilling, or showing you loved something by being "@WhoEverTheFuck I loooooved your new movie!"
As such, there's much less honesty in some respects. What I do like about it though is when there's a crisis or breaking news twitter is usually great for getting info faster.
R11 I agree. When it comes to social networking, there will always be something else to take it's place later on down the road.
@WhoEverTheFuck
That's almost good enough to steal.
But%20Yes%2C%20Twitter%20Blows
This reminds me of that time when Prince declared the Internet "over".
Twitter is here to say. Such a great way of quickly relaying news as it happens. For instance, I'm an NBA fan. On the day of the trading deadline, I follow all of the NBA reporters and columnists for up to second reports of deals that are gong down before any of them have a chance to write a full article and publish it on ESPN.com or whatever. It is a fantastic quick news source.
Also, it was great to follow twitter during the Presidential debates and see what people were saying as it was happening.

Sure it is...

Facebook is the new MySpace while Twitter is still going strong since the media use celebrities' Twitter feeds as actual quotes in their reports and articles.
Twitter is great for celebs shilling their latest release, product, or tour and posting official press release statements regarding all sorts of allegations and scandals and/or just stay in touch with fans (so they will not wander off and worship someone else). And fans just love to follow their star's twitter feed. And that's why it will remain popular for a much longer time than, say, MySpace or Facebook since celebs and companies can make money off of it by posting advertisments (masked) as Twitter feeds.
Stop trying to make #twitterisover happen.

I thought Instagram was the new fad. People are just pathetic the way they flock around the latest trend without hesitation.
You would think Pinterest would be popular here.
I love tumblr - WAY cooler and more interesting
a
IF ONLY
This thread is filled with clueless eldergays who have no idea what they are talking about.
Twitter is not going anywhere.
Facebook is dying, and is for old people only.
Pinterest is for Midwestern fraus.
Instagram is a big eh, TBD, but it looks more trend oriented than the others. One can only look at so many bad photos of alcohol, architecture, and food so much.
I hope it is over. I have tried and failed several times to "get it". I just don't. I don't see why it is interesting, fun, entertaining, informative... always looks like a garbled mess to me. I liken it to standing in a noisy crowded bar and trying to capture what everyone is saying and make sense of it.
[quote]I hope it is over.
Why?
You hope it's over because you don't understand it?
God, some of you are fucking idiots.

On a board of (supposedly) mostly men? That skews older than many internet communities? Why?
What's the point of Twitter if you're not famous?
twitter can't really be over until something replaces it as a micro-blogging platform. As others have mentioned, it's good for getting the latest news on a topic or disseminating new content. It ties into business objectives too with its potential importance to content marketing and SEO.
also, everybody knows New.Myspace is the new Myspace.

We hope for the day when people stop feeling the need to tell others what they are doing.
I follow 1,162 accounts, mostly journalists, bloggers, authors and government agencies, and it's like a firehose of information. Then I have friends who follow only porn stars and random naked dudes, and their Twitter feeds give me an STD.
I use TweetDeck so it is laid out nicely. I see everything on one page. Twitter has tried repeatedly to ruin TweetDeck but the older, pre-twitter-buyout versions are still out there.
I have friends with whom I tweet. It's a fun, quick way to say a few words to friends. It is also informative if you follow people and news sources that are of interest to you.
