When you @arbys or whatever on twitter where does the message go?

Does it go out as one of their tweets? Does it appear on their page somewhere? I don't know if anyone had twatted me back as I've no idea where to look for it. Help...

• When you send something to @arbys, it can be seen and read by @arbys and anyone else following @arbys. If they do answer you, it would be shown on your @Connect twitter page.

• R3, I thought recepients could only see a tweet sent to them if both recepient and sender are following each other. You mean someone who is not following me can see a tweet I send them in their regular received tweets? I thought my tweet to them would end up in their Connect file or not at all.

• Not sure, R6. I use TweetDeck and I have a separate column for my @s. I don't remember if they appear on my regular timeline or not - now that you mention it.

• R1 No...that was not me.

• You can mention ANY Twitter address in a Tweet just by adding their @username. If they go to the @Connect tab at the top, then your Tweet should come up either under "interactions" or "mentions". It does NOT appear on their general feed, unless they follow you. Some companies are very good about checking their Twitter feeds. I've gotten help from Comcast, FedEx and UPS via complaints to their Twitter feeds (complaints I posted only after exhausting other options). It's actually an effective way to get help sometimes, because not everyone has Twitter and most people are still calling or emailing customer service. But not every company follows the comments or does anything about them (and same for Facebook).
