RUMOUR: Diane Sawyer may retire
This would not be surprising. She should at least resign as the nightly anchor and just be a news reporter on certain stories.
http://news.msn.com/rumors/rumor-diane-sawyer-is-retiring
- She behaves in a too daffy way on the nightly news, often injecting silly, overly emotive, senseless unnecessary comments.
And her failure on 2012 election night to behave coherently was rather shocking. She was giddy and uttered some incoherences.
- Oh, that's so sad. But if she feels like she must retire, then she must.
Far be it for me to try to convince her to stay.
Can I help you pack your office, Diane?
David%20Muir
- r2 beat me to it. He is circling her office like a starving vulture as I type.
- So make it one for my baby and one more for the road . . .
Mike%20Nichols
- Unless she's sick, I highly doubt this. She's driven -- is proud of working a sick number of hours. Loves the spotlight.
Doesn't make sense.
- It's DAVID TYLER MUIR, people. One does not mention The David without speaking his whole name. It is blasphemy.
- R6 He might just make it after all!
- R7 Can't wait for the shot where he goes to Times Square and throws his bad toupee into the air!
- This is quite the week for David Tyler Muir. Gets named 20/20 coanchor and now has Diane on the verge of retiring.
Ms Muir must have really churned up something deliciously evil in her caldron over the holidays.
- Why do they keep on foisting women anchors on us? It doesn't work - at least not in this country.
We want strong, authoritative and informed voices for our news.
- is it possible ABC itself is spreading the false rumor in prep for kicking her out?
- This can't be. I won't have it!
- R10 dines on the feces of rabid dogs.
- What is your damage, r13?
- She may want to stay but her performance isn't great. She's shaky and kind of weird these days.
Diane Sawyer made a great career by busting her ass working and peddling her ass to men who could help her. She's earned her retirement.
- Form follows function
- maybe she has dementia....she has been acting very strange lately.
- I thought her gay husband, Mike Nichols, was really not doing well either.
- R5, the article the OP posted says she has personal problems or problems in her personal life that have needed attending to, including a sick mother who she has been caring for.
- She honestly seems to be losing it a bit.
She still does well in her out in the field reporting assignments in other countries and for example, going to parts of Chicago where the 400 or 500 shootings have taken place.
She is excellent as a field reporter - she is just losing it a bit as an anchor.
- Maybe DTM is slipping something into her coffee.
- I agree with r10. And r13 is a man-hating dyke.
- Her behavior on election night may have been the last straw for her bosses.
- More time pour les cocktails. (But perhaps less for hubby?)
- Jake Tapper looked horrified at the way she was acting on election night, as she had an odd exchange with Jake.
- So is this her idea or has ABC helped her come to this conclusion?
- I LOVE silly, ([italic]allegedly[/italic]) drunk Diane! If they shitcan her ass, I swear I'll switch to Fox News and watch my second favorite anchoress, Ms. Shepard Smith.

- Her huz, Mike Nichols, has a disease that produces no body hair anywhere! Not even eyelashes or eyebrows. Paste on eyebrows and a wig and a merkin.

I hope he never gets them mixed up.
- Is Michael sick again? Haven't talked to him in a while.
Elaine%20May
- Both Cokie Roberts and Diane sounded drunk. The ladies must have had a liquid lunch.
