FBI raids office of doctor tied to U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez
[quote]FBI agents late Tuesday night raided the West Palm Beach business of an eye doctor suspected of providing free trips and even underage Dominican Republic prostitutes to U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. — who has denied what he calls the “fallacious allegations.”
[quote]Rubio is one of the few big-name Florida politicians who has not received campaign money from the Melgens, who have contributed to Sen. Bill Nelson and Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Joe Garcia, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, among others.
Hard to believe that the FBI would pursue something on a Democratic Senator with a Democratic white House unless there was a pretty strong indication of a problem.
When Menendez resigns (as you can bet he will), will the fatty Governor get to appoint someone or will it go straight to a special election? Will Booker go straight (in a matter of speaking) after this seat or wait to take on Dinosaur Frank?

- B-U-M-P
- Looks like Sen. Menendez is in big trouble. I had assumed the sex he had with prostitutes when he was on vacation was legal and was with women of age. But it's beginning to look bad.
- Hooray. I'm a NJ resident, & Menendez is one of the slimiest politicians around. Good riddance.
- R3, it won't be good for the Democratic Party though if Menendez has to go. He was a safe seat and is also the only Latino Senator in the Dem caucus, I believe.
- R4, your attitude is what is wrong with this country & why we're going to go bankrupt. "Let's keep a criminal in one of the highest offices because he's on our team."
- Why isn't more of the media covering this? He allegedly preyed on under aged girls, ABC's Martha Raddatz didn't even bring it up to him last week. Why?
- Next to Crook County Illinois, Hudson County New Jersey has the worst reputation for corruption.
Negative stories about Menendez have been around for years. This was probably fueled by local Dems who he's screwed over the years.
- He's a skeeze. When it became known in September that a volunteer in his office was illegal and a sex offender, Menendez was able to keep it quiet until after his re-election in November. When the news was released, he claimed no knowledge of the workers status.
- The story was on every Metro NY station. As usual, his constituents said it didn't matter because "he did a lot for us."
- Story has been a non issue in the MSM. Wonder why?
- These allegations are simply fellatious.
- R10, where have you been? It exploded big time this week. It was covered on CNN in depth by Erin Burnett, and by Rachel Maddow on MSNBC.
- I first heard about it on MSNBC, r10 asshat.
- 2013 has barely started and the Democrats are already screwing up their chances of holding the Senate in 2014:
- Sen. Rockefeller is leaving in West Virginia
- Sen. Harkin is leaving in Iowa
- Obama and Sen. Kerry are giving Scott Brown a chance of winning back a seat in MA
- Sen. Menendez may end up having to resign and allowing Chris Christie to appoint a Republican in his place
- Great, the Repugs have won again.
- Republican'ts won't win anything legally.
- Yes they will, R16.
- More than a few Republican senators have announced retirement as well.
- BTW R10 - Brian Williams mentioned it on NBC News a couple of times.
[quote]Sen. Menendez may end up having to resign and allowing Chris Christie to appoint a Republican in his place
I thought the way NJ law works, a special election will have to be held.
In which case Cory Booker can then go after that seat instead of the one held by Frank Lautenberg after his term ends.
- [quote]More than a few Republican senators have announced retirement as well.
Just Saxbly Chambliss of Georgia as far as I know, and that's going to still be a tough seat for the Dems to win.
- r19, Jim McGreevey avoided the Special Election law when Robert Torricelli resigned, by waiting to made a decision until after candidates could sign-up. That's when he dragged Frank Lautenberg out of retirement.
Frank should also be investigated. Has an apartment at Windsor Towers in Cliffside Park, but actually lives with girlfriend on West End Avenue in Manhattan. Windsor is on the old Palisades Amusement Park property.
- No they won't, r17, unless you really want them to.
- R22, let's not pretend Republicans cheat in every election. They obviously win large majorities in red states without cheating.
- R21, are you saying that the 88-year old Frank Lautenberg has a girlfriend?!
- That's the point! Finally.
- Stop calling us repugs, r15. It's not funny, it's childish and it's truly, truly offensive.
- According to a new Quinnipiac poll, the senator's approval rating has crashed.
15 point drop in less than a month
36% approve 41% disapprove
44-28% say he is not honest and trustworthy
http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes-centers/polling-institute/new-jersey/release-detail%3FReleaseID%3D1853
- Christie sits at a 74% approval.
It's the highest approval of any NJ Governor in the 17 yrs Quinnipiac has been polling.

- Menendez will resign and Christie will appoint a moderate R or Cory Booker to replace him.
- The only announced Democrat to run against Christie is Barbara Buono, a former Police Chief in Metuchen, public defender and Senate Majority Leader. Survey revealed most Garden State residents have never heard of her.
- Which is why if CC appoints CB in BM's place he would score a huge win-win in NJ.
- R26, until you and *every one of your party's public faces* stops referring to the "Democrat Party," you can GFY.
NOT%20R15%2C%20but%20sick%20of%20that%20Luntz%20shit
- Pigs will fly before Christie appoints Corey Booker, because he still needs his republican base to win re-election.
- Christie will use this time for his 2016 bid.
