Does "peeling" mean you loosen the nail at the end and rip it off? If so, that's happened to me with broken fingernails on rare occasion, but I wouldn't advise that as a primary grooming routine.

No, he didn't. I do the same thing. You just loosen the nail on one side and peel it off. I asked my podiatrist if that was a bad thing to do. He said no. I thought I was quirky for doing it, but evidently it's not that unusual.
