• It is very difficult to find a bad restaurant in San Francisco. probably the best eats in the entire country.

• I always had a hard time finding a good Italian restaurant in North Beach, the Italian neighborhood. What are the good Italian restaurants that don't cost a fortune?

• Perbacco on California One Market (on Market) The Foreign Cinema in the Mission (on Valencia, I think) Garcon in the mission (also on Valencia and 22nd) Zuni is good, but very hard to get a table.

• Panchito's on Mission for good Mexican.

• All the rich people eat at the Empress of China in Chinatown.

• Is The Slanted Door still the hottest restaurant in SF?

• Staraya Bashnya, fine little Russian resto out on Clement St. The sign is in Cyrillic letters!

• I recommend San Jose. There are over 472,000 people in the city of San Francisco alone, that are infected with the AIDS. Can you imagine what risk you're taking. Prolly a lot of 'mos urinating in food and cutting themselves into a pot of stew, to spread their filth.

• The new hot spot is State Bird. Very difficult to get a table but I just managed to grab one...next March 27!!!

• R23's numbers are off. At then end of 2010 there were 15,861 San Franciscans with HIV, less than 2% of the population of over 800,000.

• Of course there is the question of how many of those 800,000 are gay males. One homophobe estimated just 64,000, which made it sound like 1 in 4 were infected with HIV, but more intelligent estimates are that with 26% of the population adult single males, over 200,000 people, it is likely that the gay population is the majority of that population, so around 120,000 is the likeliest scenario; and most of those 15,861 are likely on the old side. Furthermore, if you go to bars and so on in SF you are meeting people from all surrounding towns too, where the incidence of HIV is probably a little lower.

• SO in summary the HIV incidence is high in SF but I wouldn't be any more worried about meeting people there than in say Dallas or Atlanta or Phoenix, because people in SF are probably a bit less likely to deceive you as to their HIV status, or to have it without knowing it, or to practice unsafer sex.

• And of course not all of the 15,861 are gay either. So it's more like 10,000 out of 120,000.

• Farrallon (seafood) is pretty good, the decor is wonderful (art glass, ocean murals) It's been some years but check out Boulevard, good food, again another wonderful decor (art nouveau) Fun design your own burgers are to be found at Burger Bar (Hubert Keller) Tadich Grill for cioppino

• It's been about six years since I last went, but Michael Mina is also a good food experience

• For drinks RN 74 A hot new place is Bourbon and Branch I haven't been there yet but it's designed as a speakeasy, you need to obtain the password to get in the door.

• Bourbon & Branch is great for cocktails, but they don't serve food.

• Atelier Crenn But it's like having food as theater.

• Le Colonial is French Vietnamese and they have a club upstairs.

• Mission Chinese on 18th and Mission is THE place to go.

• I know it's sacrelige, but the best food I ever had there was at Aurea at the Stanford Court hotel on Nob Hill.
