I wish I knew the larger context surrounding this letter. Was it a random letter? It reads like one, but then why the 100? Was it an assignment? What was the assignment.
While I applaud the student taking tentative steps, and the teachers warm, encouraging response, this letter did NOT deserve a 100%! It was filled with grammatical mistakes and bad phrasing. The teacher should have been supportive of the content, but a little harder on the form.
R6, it's supposed to make us all 'feel good'. Like most everything in America's education system, things like intelligence and grammar and phrasing are trumped for what's touchy/feely.
I'm happy for the student coming out also, but this is the kind of pure shit which is dumbing-down American school kids and why they'll all be forced to speak Chinese by the time they're 50. It's pablum for the politically correct-obsessed masses. Of course, I'll be scorned now for being a self loathing homophobe, but, there ya go.
good lord, it wasn't even that poorly written.
Jesus.
