Amazing natural landmarks and monuments
Post photos, and identify, please.
This is one of my favorites: Kukenan, a tepuis in Venezuela, one of the inspirations for the mesa in the movie "Up."
Oops! Forgot the image for Kukenan. here you go:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/Kukenan_Tepuy_at_Sunset.jpg Ball's Pyramid, the tallest volcanic island in the world. It just sticks up out of the ocean about 300 miles from the Australian coast.
http://images.wookmark.com/38302_balls-pyramid.jpg That's really cool R2.
In Capadocia, Turkey, nature has formed the landscape into a series of giant penises.
http://intreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/cappadocia-4.jpg The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. Snoopy rock makes me smile and what's more amazing there is a Lucy rock not too far from Snoopy rock.
http://www.wildsedona.com/area/landmarks.htm Here's the Bungle Bungles of Australia, a great striped rock formation in the middle of nowhere. It's been there for millions of years, but white people only found it a few decades ago.
http://www.mytravellogs.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Bungle-Bungles-620.jpg Oregon has a Painted Desert region that nobody seems to know about. Maybe because it's a long way from anywhere.

It's beautiful "hanging lakes" are formed by limestone that dissolves and then reforms in the lakes, creating a beautiful but ever-changing landscape of fluid rock and water.
http://theegotripper.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/plitvice-7.jpg The Dallol volcanic basin in Ethiopia is a freaky mixture of acid pools and rock formations.
I can't sleep
I want to go there, r8. That is so beautiful.
The pic @ R2 is amazing but still kind of creepy/ominous.
The Grand Canyon of course. But photos never do it justice.
http://www.ratestogo.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/the-grand-canyon.jpg Has anyone been to the "Cave of Crystals" in Mexico?
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gk2my0xGdd0/TsYF54so_3I/AAAAAAAADNo/KLP6NKTe7t8/s1600/crystals21.jpg Yosemite. Everything about Yosemite is beautiful. Well, except the hordes of tourists.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, China. Massive pillar-like rock formations topped by trees.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7011/6798186133_3cc083eecd_b.jpg Shiprock, New Mexico. Old volcanic plug (and dike in foreground) that's eroded into a peak.
http://southwestdesertlover.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/rio-grande-shiprock-aerial.jpg And the Stone Forest of Yakutsk.
http://englishrussia.com/images/stone_trees/1.jpg Hope this works. Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec.
http://0.tqn.com/d/cruises/1/0/Q/7/6/Perce-7778.JPG Didn't Sonny claim that Cher believed Mt. Rushmore to be a naturally occurring rock formation?
Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
"The pic @ [R2] is amazing but still kind of creepy/ominous."
It's like something out of Mordor set in the sea.
