I just finished Kevin Pollak's memoir and he claims that director Mick Jackson had only included two songs but Costner re-edited the final cut and added the rest. True or KC grabbing credit?
Other gossip from Pollak: Don Johnson and Michael Clark Duncan were dicks to him. Rip Torn was crazy filming Canadian Bacon: he'd hire hookers and scream at them to "milt it like a cow!"
Oddest part of this story: that Kevin Pollak was able to get a memoir published.
what did ?Michael Clarke do to him?
"Yet again, I did my impression of William Shatner as Captain Kirk...
--the only sentence I could possibly imagine from Kevin Pollack's memoir
Michael Clark Duncan accused Pollak of stealing his per diem and refused to come on set over it. This was on the set of the Bruce Willis film "The Whole Nine Yards." BW did not invite MCD back for the sequel because of it.
Willis had a hotel suite filled with strippers going every night.
And Rip Torn told hookers to "milk it like a cow." Just noticed the typo.
It's in there, R3!
Best movie of the 1990s. Love it.
Wikipedia says that he's partnered with Jamie Foxx. Is he really gay with Django?
Who is Kevin Pollack?
Rip Torn has been bonkers for years.
Yes, I pictured Rip Taylor when I read Rip Torn. I do that all the time.
I was always hoping for a sequel but with Whitney gone, it will likely never happen. Bodyguard was Costner's only good movie in my opinion.
OP, I'm really enjoying his book. He even made me like Tom Cruise a little.
What did Kevin Pollack say about Kevin Spacey and "The Usual Suspects?"
So true R11. I have to agree "The Bodyguard" was SO much better than "Bull Durham", "The Untouchables" or "No Way Out".
R13, he says Spacey's Christopher Walken impression is overdone but his William Hurt is flawless.
He says the part of Fenster was nothing until Benicio Del Toro improvised all his own dialogue. Stephen Baldwin showed up on set in leather pants but not riding a motorcycle which got him mocked. Pollak congratulates him on finding Jesus: "There's only so long you can do 8 balls off a hooker's lower back!"
Gabriel Byrne got a crazy amount of pussy (Pollak's words) and the entire cast is still annoyed that they don't get any money from the constant reissues of the film.
I agree R12. His description of Cruise makes him sound like a manic, perky Sandra Dee!
[quote]Who is Kevin Pollack?
In [italic]the Usual Suspects[/italic], he's the guy the cops bust in the beginning as he's working on a car. He's also the suspect who actually stole the gun parts they were all interrogated over.
In [italic]Casino[/italic], he's the titular head of the casino where DeNiro works.
Willis must like Pollack since Pollack was also in that hostage movie with him.
Anyone else confuse him with David Paymer?
Also, um, he has wildly inflated opinion about the Christopher Walken impression he does.
Kevin Costner saved The Big Chill, too!
Love him for mocking Stephen Baldwin! I hate that ass.
Any other good dirt in the memoir, OP?
R19, not as much as I'd hoped. Pollak is super pissed at director Adam Shankman for using him early on, then never calling once he (Shankman) became successful.
He also didn't like an actress called Barbara Garrick (One Life to Live) who was method & wouldn't talk with him on the set of Miami Rhapsody because she played his angry wife.
He & Jerry Lewis talk on the phone all the time.
And what does he have to say about his role as Cupid in The Santa Clause 3?
Ha! R22, He only mentions his good movies. He does say "Everyone will make some crappy movies, more on that later." But unlike all of his other asides, he never goes into it.
It was weirdly absent of anything having to do with women, other than the bitchy method actress. Oh, he called Demi "pretty" and mentions fucking a few people. All of his celebrity endorsements spread thro the book, all men and some from his "crazy mom" that actually are a little crazy. He barely talks about his wives or any female celebrities at all.
