Doing research

I'm planning in a couple of years to start researching. I have no clue how to go about it or where I would be getting the money from. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated. I'm interested in scientific research.

• Is this a joke? If you are really interested in research apply to a PhD program in whatever scientific discipline you are interested in. Trust me, you will get sick of research soon enough..though there are still some times when I remember why I love it.
