Aretha Franklin shades Beyonce: ‘She did a beautiful job with the pre-record’
She has yet to comment on reports that she lip-synched when performing the Star Spangled Banner at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony. But one person not holding back with her crticism of Beyoncé’s reported miming is Aretha Franklin, who admitted she ‘cracked up’ when she heard the news. However, Aretha, who performed at Obama’s first inauguration ceremony back in 2009, told ABC News that the singer had ‘done a beautiful job with the pre-record’.
She said: ‘When I heard the news this evening that she was pre-recorded I really laughed. I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather. When I heard that I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record.’
And Aretha said that she had never even thought of miming when she performed My Country ‘Tis of Thee four years ago. She added: ‘I wanted to give people the real thing and pre-recording never crossed my mind.’
Jennifer Lopez also addressed the rumours during an interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Tuesday night.
Asked her opinion on pre-recording the track for such a public event, Jennifer said: ‘Sometimes it happens when you are in certain stadiums and certain venues and things, they do prerecord stuff because you’re going to have that terrible slapback.’
She added: ‘If I remember rightly, Whitney Houston was also recorded when she performed at the Super Bowl. And it was an amazing rendition – everyone loved it and it became a huge hit.’
This is not the only time that Beyonce has been haunted by claims that she did not actually sing when she claimed to: in the 2009 Academy Awards, she starred in a musical number with the show’s host, Hugh Jackman, and many believed that she did not actually sing.
The event’s organisers did not clarify, either, saying only: ‘As is the case with any live event of this scale and scope, there are always elements of the show that are pre-recorded. But I will not go into detail about which elements were on this show.’
Calls to Beyonce’s press representatives from MailOnline were not immediately answered.
The singer’s next major live performance will be at the Superbowl in New Orleans on February 3.
YASSS!! Shade! Although confused where she said its NOT good singing weather but that she laughed.
Either way, for a pre-record it was weak. There.
R1, trust, that was more shade. When Aretha sang live at Obama's first inaugural, that was similar temperatures.
Also remember this shade goes back some. A few years ago at an homage-fest for Tina Turner, Beyonce called Tina "the queen" and Aretha stepped in the next day to say "OHHH No."
Not a huge fan of Beyonce, but Aretha Franklin is the fattest cunt who ever cunted in the history of cunts. I know first hand. I love all soul and R&B and blues, but when I hear one of her songs I change the channel or tune out. Fat bitch. Fat, fat cunt bitch.

I remember that. Tina Turner is a gracious, wonderful human being. Aretha is jealous. She thinks she owns black music. She couldn't handle "not" being the queen for a day.
Aretha is the Queen. All others come after.
This is like a real life version of Got2BeReal. Waiting for Patti and Dionne to show up!!
Aretha can be such a cunt sometimes.
One of my family member saw Aretha at Wolf Trap a few years ago and said she barely sang and just did riffs every once in awhile.
"Aretha is the Queen. All others come after."
This is the absolute truth. No need to say more.
Al Sharpton is now defending Bouncy. It's a race war!
Aretha has zero charisma and even less talent. The moose always sounds like she smoked a carton of Camels, and she looks like she's about to give birth to one. She's an overhyped hag, and there are many female singers that are infinitely better that this rhinopottamus. And all of you silly queens who suck her cock: PFFFFTT!!
I'd take Aretha's FUPA over Beyonce any day.
‘She did a beautiful job with the pre-record.'
That is a friggin funny line by Ms. Franklin. "The pre-record." Ha!
R5, that's exactly what I thought. Some episodes of Got2BeReal just write themselves. I can't wait for this Hateretha shade to make an appearance on G2BR soon along with Fantasia's illiterate ass fuckery last week.

First thing I thought of too!
you fat Aretha cow you saws me pulled that ear jack out mys ear
R3, must be deaf or crazy, because back-in-the-day Aretha was the bomb!
So much the bomb, that it lasted for all eternity, even though her back-in-the-day voice is gone.
For all of you calling her fat, well, she lost weight, but it's still no reason to trash her highness.
The woman was blessed with a supreme gift. She was never a supermodel, so she shouldn't be blamed for not keeping a girlish figure.

Look, r16 is right. Beyonce fans are making fools of themselves taking their anger out on everyone from Aretha, the marine band, Kelly Clarkson and even Whitney because she didn't get the same grief.
Saying Aretha has "no talent" is just plain stupid and self-defeating. She's known as 'The Queen of Soul' for a reason. Her voice may be gone now and she may sound terrible, but the recordings and footage from her prime will always exist to remind of her greatness. The same goes for Whitney, her vocal gifts and talent have never been disputed so no one made a big deal her Super Bowl performance. Beyonce, on the other hand, is known more for her dancing and booty-shaking than her singing. Who's fault is that?
And why get mad at KC for confirming she sang live when she did?
