How the NRA Hijacked the Republican Party

Interesting opinion piece by Nicholas Wapshott In my opinion, it's not just the NRA that's painted the GOP into a corner. I'd say the evangelicals, the Tea Party, and the anti-abortionists -- all groups courted at one time or another by the GOP to win elections -- have come together as the perfect storm to make them unelectable for the time being. Each group has voters who detest their views, and when added together, this loose coalition has the numbers that has stymied the GOP in recent elections. We need to tell the GOP to keep up the good work!

• The NRA was always the Repug party. Stop trying to make out that the GOP was ever good.

• NRA has tried any number of times to hijack the ACLU, but with very limited success. The tobacco companies, on the other hand, were successful for a time.
