Tom Bianchi is turning one of his books, "The Men I've Loved," into a musical... on Liza's advice!

[quote]In 1998 this book of prose poems and pictures was published. It tells the story of my life through the prism of my romantic relationships and closest friendships. At the time the book was published, I was asked to do some public readings. I found myself embarrassed because I couldn’t get through some of the material without choking up. One night I told Liza Minnelli about this problem over dinner. She told me I had to get it together and put this on the stage. She gave creative suggestions about how to present it. She thought I should go out on stage and do it myself. I thought - “Brilliant. You’re channeling your father – but if I attempted that, I’d wind up looking like your mother.” (For those too young to know, Liza’s dad was the director Vincent Minnelli, her mom was Judy Garland.) I didn’t say that with my outside voice. And I did no more readings. [quote]We don’t have a target date, but have created about a third of the music in broad strokes presently. We will be posting some previews of this music here as we develop it further. Stay tuned :-)
