"This Means War."
It was a film released in 2012 with Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and a cast of thousands, including Rosemary Harris and Chelsea Handler.
I was just looking at some of it on HBO and wondered how come I never heard of this film being released or shown in movie theaters? How does this happen? Did someone high up at the studio deem it not worthy of some publicity and just abandon it? I mean Reese is an Oscar winner, Pine and Hardy are considered hot stuff. (Or are they over already?) Someone must think Chelsea is funny enough to be put into a romcom with the big boys, but no.
Amazing how films are made and then just dumped.

- The critics loved it!

- That one actually got a fair amount of press when it came out and it was discussed quite a bit here. All the reviews talked about the chemistry between Hardy and Pine and said the movie would have made more sense had they been the sparring romantic couple instead of fighting over Witherspoon.
- I guess I missed any mention of this film whatsoever when it came out. Of course that film Reese did with that Twilight actor about elephants pretty much came and went too. Maybe I have grown immune to anything to do with Reese.
OP
- 156 million worldwide gross, not including ancillary profits (rentals, sales, etc.)
It made money. Whether or not it's any good is another question. I don't know anyone who saw it.
- Horrible movie
- That's how it is with most movies today, OP. There's barely a two week window of advertising in print, tv, etc. And they're lucky if they get a few previews shown during the movie previews.
Of course the biggies get an abundance of press, advertising, cover stories, etc. But most do not. Only if you're someone who still reads reviews do you get a sense of what is coming out and when.
- It was a big Valentine's release last year. I tried to watch it on TV last week. It did not hold my attention. It is absolute rubbish. It stars Chris Pine and The Big Growth On Chris Pine's Neck.
- Just watched this and it was bad. The reviewers were right - Pine and Hardy would have made a much more interesting couple than either of them with Witherspoon.
And I don't get the lust for Chris Pine. I wouldn't give him a second glance if I met him on the street.
- Where were you last year, OP? I didn't have television at this time last year and remember promotion for this movie everywhere -- billboards, bus ads, etc.
Watched it a few nights ago. Dreadful. As mentioned above, Pine and Hardy have the chemistry, none with Reese, and it would've made more sense as a gay romance.
- Chris Pine looks like a guy you'd see in gay porn. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but all I can think of is "gay porn" when I see him.
