Corn on MSNBC: Right-Wingers Warn of "Civil War" Over Second Amendment
As President Obama got ready to release his proposals on gun reform Wednesday, the right wing was continuing its freak-out over alleged "threats" to the Second Amendment. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Obama is acting like a "king" by proposing executive orders on firearms, and there have been multiple threats to impeach Obama for such action, and calls for "civil war" from the right-wing talk show people.
Mother Jones' DC bureau chief David Corn joined The Daily Beast's Bob Shrum on MSNBC's The Ed Show with Ed Schultz to talk about the dangers of this kind of rhetoric.
We need to rescind the 2nd Amendment as soon as possible. The long we have it in place the more organized the crazies who love their guns more than people, become more organized.
The constitution was written in the 18th century. What was novel and exciting then has become lethal today. The original colonies has but a few million people in 1776, and the population was fairly homogeneous. Today there are 300 million people composed of every possible ethnic heritage and mental makeup. None of this was foreseen by the authors and more importantly the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
A good starting point, until we have new constitutional convention, is repealing the current 2nd Amendment.
Kinda has a nice ring to it, King O.
Civil War against WHOM?
The left wing?
They lost the war over 150 years ago. GET OVER IT.
