Is the Air Force Academy still being taken over by evangelicals?

This was everywhere for a few years but now you don't hear about it. Dominion Wackiness Troll (I miss you!) what's your opinion on this? I remember being very scared that some bible happy pilot would drop a nuke in the middle east to ready Jesus' Magical Landing Strip.

• It's a terrible situation. In fact none of the military branches grant soldiers access to gay content on base computers, I'm not talking pornography either. The military culture is still hoping to ride the post-DADT change out. I wouldn't be surprised to see soldiers perceived as being gay being kicked out for invented reasons once a republican administration is again in place.

• R1, you don't even know what the fuck you're talking about. No, you can't go to Towleroad or DataLounge on DoD computers, but the content on a lot of gay sites often veers into NSFW territory. And I'm a gay Airman who works in a joint environment alongside gay soldiers. My superiors treat me like gold because I work my ass off...sorry to ruin your illusion of neverending persecution.

• R1, in addition to visiting less scandalous gay websites, I have accessed Datalounge on a Marine Corps computer. The military was ready for the repeal of DADT before anyone else was. You are up to your eyeballs in horseshit, why don't you go make up something else to protest.

• They were the military branch implicated in 9.11 because they were already taken over by right wing evangelicals.

• The US military has a strong Evangelical infestation, but the Airforce is most definitely the worst. The US Airforce is almost 100% Evangelical Christian.

• The Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs and this is certainly no coincidence. Colorado Springs is still terrifying the rest of the front range with their evangelist ways including but not limited to the New Life Church (Ted Haggard's church), the Focus On The Family HQ and a plethora of very wealthy conservatives. Also, other parts of Colorado Springs are extremely white trash and have a lot of meth problems. I visited my bf's family down in the more affluent area and I couldn't even go out to lunch without getting death stares (including the obese soccer moms and their Air Force Academy children).

• In 2011, The Air Force Academy dedicated an $80,000 outdoor worship center — a small Stonehenge-like circle of boulders with propane fire pit — high on a hill for the current or future cadets whose religions fall under the broad category of "Earth-based." Those include pagans, Wiccans, druids, witches and followers of Native American faiths. The acadamy has two spiritual leaders for all Earth-based religions — one a civilian, one an Air Force reservist. The academy also has worship areas for Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish faiths.

• R9 -- you forgot to add that this was the second worship center -- the first was destroyed in the middle of the night.

• I don't think that's correct. The first one was far from the dorms and not convenient, so they constructed a second one closer in. Some Fundie desecrated it by going there one night and placing a wooden cross in it.

• Evangelicals with nukes. Now I see where they got the idea for the movie Flight of the Black Angel. A story about a US Airforce pilot who steals a nuke to drop on Los Vegas to punish people for the sin of gambling.

• Sorry, I didn't have that right. The wooden cross was placed at the old worship site in 2010. The newer site, closer in, can be viewed easier.
