Anyone go to Ptown or anywhere else on the Cape in winter?
Just want to take the BF out of town for the weekend. I need to see beach and ocean, even if it is cold. Hell, at least lodging is cheaper.
Anyone?
went to P Town one February weekend. Cold, blustery, wildly beautiful. Few stores and cafes are open. The A-Hole is open; to the few year rounders, you and your BF will be as meat to a starving dog. Pre Lube.
Same deal with Nantucket. And tes, lodging is cheaper.
Perfect places to practice your Wuthering Heights routine (windswept hair, glowing cheeks, salt streaked face, etc.)

I love Ptown in the winter. Of course, the one time I planned to take a bf out there for a sexy romantic weekend in a beautiful room in a guesthouse, he dumped me two days before going. So I just cried in the room alone.
PTown's become as avoidable in the Winter as it's become in the Summer OP.
New York queens and straight Long Islanders have all but vaporized it. Just nothing special to it anymore and fewer and fewer of the gay crowd is flocking there like they once were. Unless you're straight or really into the drag scene, PTown's dead.
I was in PT once years ago in the winter, thanks to one of the Truro cops giving me a speeding ticket that I had to go back and answer for. Not sure what month it was, but it was cold and quiet. It was relaxing, I stayed at the BoatSlip which had a small bar open and I think thats where I also had dinner. A-House was also open. It was quiet, but peaceful, and beautiful by the water. It was a nice experience, not counting the speeding ticket charge.
PTown has been taken over by NYC status queens with lots of money, and has lost any charm it once had.
Oh, God. Another winter in a summer town.
R5, the NYC status queens abandoned PTown after several summers and have returned to Fire Island in full force.
Used to go to Ptown on NYE and it was always fun because everyone ended up at the one place that was open. It's really beautiful out there in the winter as well. I also recommend the Islands from Nantucket to the Vineyard and even Block Island which is a little more put to sleep in the off season but absolutely gorgeous nonetheless.
[quote]PTown has been taken over by NYC status queens..
If by "status queens" you mean those only able to afford/finance or rent condos, yes, there are several NYC queens who moved here after the 2008 financial collapse.
Most of the real property being bought up is being done so by Long Island trash and the Jewish crowd from New York and Jersey wh've realized there were still 'deals' to be found.
Gradually PTown's become Long Island North. The gay scene is completely dead and the only thing keeping any semblance of a gay friendly scene alive are the remaining themed weeks which pulls in the club boys and bear crowds. But even the bears have begun to stay away.
I went to Ptown for New Years once. Never again. It was too fucking cold. Bundling up like you're about to do a spacewalk was not my idea of fun.
Has anyone stayed at either Aerie House or at Admiral's Landing?
Ogunquit very purty this time of year too.
Not really sure what R9's opinion is based on. Land's End Inn is great in the winter. We were there last Feb. great views, comfortable overstuffed common areas. Just plan your meals in advance because most restaurants are closed.
Not worth the drive OP. If you are in the Boston area Rockport, Cape Ann.
It's only a 3 hour drive from where I am - not too bad. Ended up choosing Admiral's Landing. Seems to be run by two very well liked lesbians with amazing reviews.
We are glad it will be nice and quiet. There are a few places open to eat, and other things to do. Mostly we just want the peace and serenity and maybe one bright sunny, if very cold, day.
Lands Inn looked interesting, but too much "going on" in terms of the decor for my taste. Seemed very cluttered, though in a good location.
