Carrie Fisher

After she did her broadway show, it seemed that she was going to have a comeback (got that Jenny Craig deal, etc) but now she has disappeared back into obscurity- anyone know what the story is? Is she back being a mess?

• Carrie's a better writer than performer. It's more sad that Debbie hasn't had much of a comeback since that Albert Brooks comedy.

• She'll probably have a cameo in the next Star Wars film. Dust off that gold bikini!

• She looked good 6 months ago at the AFI induction for Shirley MacClaine. Whether she's skidded off the main road since is anyone's guess.

• She's been doing well "in obscurity" for a long time, getting big bucks as a writer and uncredited script doctor. So I don't necessarily worry about her when she's not in the public eye.

• Carrie isn't hurting for money. As r7 points out, her behind-the-scenes script doctoring is very lucrative and she made a nice chunk of change with her books sales. She's quite financially comfortable. I also think she and Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill also got a percentage of the Star Wars films, which would certainly be quite a bit of money.

• Supposedly she made enough from Star Wars to never need to work again. (and continues to get income with all the re releases and DVDs and merchandise.) I don't think she still does script doctoring anymore BTW.

• It's a pity she's not doing the script doctoring thing anymore, if that's the case. I heard she was pretty good at it. Anyway, I'm glad she's financially comfortable. I always liked her and I hope her health is holding up. Since her mother's got the constitution of a Panzer tank, maybe she got some of those genes.

• She appeared in a documentary about screenwriting a few years ago, but she said that she hasn't worked as a script doctor for a few years now because of how the industry has changed. I wouldn't be surprised if she did have a quick glance over Diane English's script for The Women, given that almost everyone had a go at that remake at one time.

• She was hysterical a few seasons ago on 30 Rock.

• She banged Harrison Ford in his Han Solo days. Her life is already made of win.

• Do we know that for sure r13? Wasn't Harrison married and Carrie passed out on the floor in a drug haze most of those years?

• Is it true that she is a lesbian?

• R14, she confirmed it in her one-woman show. At least in the earlier performances. By the end of the run, she was back to being coy.

• I hope she becomes some grand mother hen in the new Star Wars movies. She really was a talented actress - Hannah and Her Sisters especially. I loved the book Postcards from the Edge but her follow ups didn't try as much and read like a memoir with the names changed.
