Will Oprah handle Lance Armstrong with kid gloves?

Like pretty much all entertainment-based interviewers, Oprah doesn't usually come down hard on anyone who she thinks she might need in the future. That's why she uses a butterfly net for Tom Cruise and a pin and a piece of cork for James Frey. Into which camp does Lance Armstrong fall?

• I thought Oprah had given up her show, and gone off the air. It is not coming on in this area anymore. But from what I have heard about this situation it is like she did with many different guests, and they have a script. His people have negotiated with her people, and everybody knows what questions will be asked, and everybody knows what answers will be given.

• Did you know that the interview will be streamed live worldwide?

• O doesn't like lying liars who lie. Yeah, she's a hypocrite.

• Saw a headline saying he admits to doping. We shall see..

• She'll only go easy if he's a Scientologist.

• She'll offer him a 'safe space' where 'the truth' can be revealed and 'immediately rationalized' as an 'act of desperation' in response to 'crushing performance pressure' He will be 'blessed by Oprah' and he will be on the 'road to redemption'. Oh, and don't be surprise if claims of abuse as a child pop into the dialogue, always a sure winner with the hollywood set. He'll have his own show within 6 months.

• Internet has its problems, but one thing I am grateful for is that it taught people to be cynical, in a good way. This thread, and many others on DL, prove that.

• Oprah is probably a safe choice for him to have asking questions. I'm sure she had a crash course in cycling and in Lance's history, but I'd rather have an investigative-type reporter, preferably versed in sports, go at him. Similar to when she interviewed Steven Tyler and didn't really seem to have a very in-depth background or knowledge about Aerosmith and their music.
