Prostitution
What are your thoughts on this? Has anyone ever sold themselves? What precipitated this event? I personally find this practise unsafe and grisly and I think in the future perhaps robots should be invented to replace prostitutes.

- it pays the bills
- Would the robots have fleshlights built into them?

- It's a victimless crime. I think it should be legalized.
- i'm about to lose my home if I could I would
- I do not doubt that there will soon be pleasure model androids, a la Bladerunner in the not so distant future.
They already have animatronic Real Dolls (both male and female), they just have not made them life-like enough, yet. Japan is getting close with their robot servants, so marry the two: Japanese tech and American artisanship.
- I have nothing against it, but the big drawback are STDs. I think it should be legalized and taxed as in Europe. The way it is done in Nevada is ridiculous--I understand that prostitution is legal for women but illegal for men??

- I'm with r4. Hardly the most savory aspect of humanity, but it's just part of life. Victimless crimes between consenting adults shouldn't be policed by the gov in a free society imho.
- M4M prostitutes are like do it yourself American Idol kits at Dollarama. One wonders why the heck they even exist?
Getting laid in the gay village or at a bar is so freakishly easy, one often stays away from these parts just to avoid it. It is just one big group of guys looking for sex. Nothing else ever happens there.
I guess male prostitutes exist for heterosexual males who want to experiment and closeted celebrities who pay for the secrecy. There is a 100 bottoms for every top argument in there somewhere, but.....
- Straight guys watching porn getting turned off their wives expanding girth.
- Really, r12?
Gay bars are so annoying, it comes as no surprise to me that some would pay for sex. Plus some people simply aren't "marketable" in the way that an atmosphere like a gay bar demands: not good-looking enough or not sociable enough or simply not patient enough to land a hottie.
Meh, I've never hired a prostitute, but it's hardly an unfathomable mystery to me why someone would.
- Not to mention, at many gay bars, by the time you get dolled up in the right clothes, spend money to get there, pay for cover and drinks and tips etc, I bet there are situations where you'd come out ahead just breaking down and hiring a hustler instead! Ha!
- My 1st gay sex was with a guy i payed 25€ to suck off. He was 18 and I was 25.
- I never actively sold myself. However, I had a few men who discreetly offered money to me in very indirect ways in my first few years of college. I graciously accepted.
I don't have any judgement for anyone who is a sex worker. Obviously a situation where you're in control is preferable...there's significant exploitation and risk in some sex work. But I also know of at least seven or eight friends (straight women, straight men and gay men) who either stripped, did massage work or escorted all throughout college.
- We are all whores!
We take the cash, we cash the check, we show them what they want to see.

- You walk into a gay bistro (because bars are elder gay things) 10 guys flirt with you, but you ignore them all. You see one guy who looks like a porn star, who is not interested in you, so you go and hire a professional who looks just like him.........Voila, why gay prostitution exists.
You walk into a Country and Western bar, you hit on women all night, you keep drinking more and the women keep getting ruder, you say f*uck it I've spend $200 on drinks and I still am not getting any, I might as well drive to the strip and pick up a girl for $50.........Voila, why straight prostitution exists.
You husband is fooling around with somebody 20 years younger than you and you are feeling old and fat, so you hire a male prostitute to make you feel young again but you don't really care about the sex. you are just glad somebody can still have an orgasm with you.........Voila why females go to male prostitutes.
- I think they're tremendous.

- I have accepted money for sex two times. I have also picked up a hustler a few times.
- The economy is bad and getting worse.
The market is flooded.
The prices are falling.
- As an acquaintance said, and I agree, "I'm willing to pay to get exactly what I want." More guys should make themselves ... available.
- Prostitution is for straight guy customers. Every city has a gaggle of old queens, but not enough to pay the bills. Prostitution is for straight guy customers.

Have you ever traveled to Thailand? Indonesia? Mexico?
You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a gay prostitution whore!
Thailand is crazy full of gay whores darlin, They line them up in go go bars, so you can have a beer and actually order the one you like.
In Indonesia they hang out in front of the clubs and are very aggressive with western looking gays.
Go to any gay strip club in Mexico (and there are plenty) and ask the stripper to come home with you. (Or any bath house for that matter)

- [quote]Voila why females go to male prostitutes.
Link please. This is utter bullshit. Male prostitutes service men only. Females rarely pay for sex.
- You hear conflicting things about prostitution.
You hear about "high class" call girls who supposedly make bundles of money sucking the cocks of wealthy men. There are memoirs of former prostitutes who say they led enviable lives, lived in big houses, wore the most expensive clothees, showered with money by their rich clients. I saw some show on HBO called "Cathouse", about some legal brothel in Nevada called the Moonlite Bunny ranch. The happy hookers there claimed they led fabulous lives, making lots of money and having lots of sex.
And then you hear the horror stories of prostitutes who have been murdered or maimed, pathetic women who sell themselves in order to get money for drugs or alcohol. Runaway teenagers who whore themselves out just to survive. And there are women who do it because they don't know how to do anything else. The Texas pick-ax killer Karla Faye Tucker, was the offspring of a prostitute who trained her daughter to be the same. Tucker later claimed that she thought she was doing very well for herself with all the dough she was making as a prostitute and was proud that she could deep throat her clients. She took pride in being a good hooker.
Despite all the stories of how wonderful life can be as a prostitute, I doubt that it is. Think of it: your job is to suck cock and get porked in the ass and cunt or rim assholes. Not all clients are attractive; in fact, a lot of them are not good looking at all. But it's your job to get them off, no matter what they look or smell or taste like. I guess some people will do anything for money. But what you have to do to get it...it doesn't seem worth it to me.
- [quote] Females rarely pay for sex.
That may have been true in, say, the 1960s when women were mainly housewives.
But there are a number of wealthy benefactresses out there. And as more women enter the executive level in the workforce, more of them have turned to these kind of arrangements.
At the numbers that men do? Hell, no. But it's not as rare as you might thin, either.
- I hear Hell's Kitchen is overrun with them.
- Then provide a link, R28. You can't because you are just blowing hot air.
Women, rich or poor, do not want a man who does not desire them. Women's sexuality is very much wrapped up in being wanted. If they have to pay for it, they know the man is only interested in the money, not in them. and that is a HUGE turn off.
Men who use prostitutes can much more easily disconnect from the commerce aspect of it. Women can not.

- Do gay prostitutes dress up in tacky closes and stand on street corners so people know they are prostitutes?

I would be very interested in hearing about any success stories.
I once worked in a bar favored by high class escorts, and from what I observed, they all talked a good game about making the bucks, investing it wisely, and retiring off their apartment houses and mutual funds, but in reality they all seemed to have a worthless Nintendo playing boyfriend at home who wound up with all their money, usually to finance "the band."
Sharon Stone's boyfriend in Casino seemed all too real to me.
- R36 Do you have a hairy hole? How much to fuck you?
- I know one, only one who did well, bought the apartment building and has retired at 45. Working in a not for profit I know hundreds of others who did not do so well.
- [R36]
Can I hire you?
- Success stories? You are joking right? For every so call happy and rich hooker, there are millions of ex-prostitute bodies in the morgues.
- R35 If you were literate, and actually read my entry at R28, you would see that I **quite clearly** stated that women were not hiring escorts at the same rate men were.
But it is a trend that is happening.
Please go back to eating the feces of homeless people. Or whatever it is that you do.

- A friend's sister is a high end escort. She makes very good money. Most of her clients are wealthy older men. She has a few guys in their 30s and 40s with money. She said nearly every client is just hideously ugly. Her favorite is a handsome older gentleman who is married. She asked why he didn't just get a mistress since he's good looking. He explained to her that his last mistress was crazy and nearly told his wife. He doesn't want that complication again
- In the 1980's I headed to Houston on every day off from work, rented a room at a sleazy motel called the Starlight Inn on Westheimer, near Montrose, and I would pick up one hustler after another. The only problem for me was that I consider men the most attractive at mid-twenties, and I certainly don't want to be guilty of fucking underage boys. Most of the hustlers were too young for me, and while all most all of them would claim to be 19 if I asked about age, the seemed younger. Well since then, I have learned how to interact with other men and get what I want sexually without paying for it. But I went back to Houston a couple of years ago, and looked around for nostalgia, and the Montrose/Westheimer area is all gentrified, most of the sleazy places are replaced with way upscale expensive businesses, most of the gay bars of that era are gone, and neither a "TWT" magazine nor a "Montrose Voice" newspaper could be found anywhere, and the only hustling that I saw was an old man picking up a boy who could not have been more than 12 years old. That was on a dark street several blocks from Westheimer, and I only saw it in my headlights. Prostitution is a sleazy business, but it is not called the oldest profession for nothing.
- R32,
Your newspaper article links are all PR pieces.
(Newspapers are actually the biggest whores.)
- Most prostitutes don't have a happy ending, so to speak. Also, most clients are hideously ugly. Many johns don't come for sex only but want to be abusive towards the women they purchase. It's a high risk job and nothing I'd want to do. I don't know if there's as much abuse in gay prostitution but straight men LOVE to verbally and physically abuse and damage women.
- Married for 7 years. 43 husband 54. He has no interest in sex and I don't want to end the marriage. I have thought about male escorts
straight%20gal
- Exactly, R48. R28 can't show any science, so he posts a couple of sleazy interviews (mostly fiction) with so called male escorts (oh, yeah, that's a reliable source) as his "proof" that more and more women are hiring men for sex and it's a growing "trend." Isn't happening, never will.
- No you haven't, R50.....and no you aren't (a straight gal).
- [quote]Think of it: your job is to suck .... ...it doesn't seem worth it to me.
Every job has its drawbacks, and it must beat working in a sweatshop or laying bricks or serving burgers for minimum wage... And in some cases I'm sure it beats slaving away in corporate America.
I imagine that successful prostitutes are basically invisible: what you see on the streets and even in the ads would be, I imagine, the lower rungs of the profession.
No one should have to do it if they don't want to and workers should always be protected from violence or exploitation, but beyond that it's weepy, frauish hand-wringing to fret that way about the poor dears. Grow up and act like an adult.
- I met a 25 yo tall hung black guy on Craigslist. he he answerd MY ad. it was hot but he was very tradey, basically I serviced him.
Next time we got together he asked if he could have 40 bucks. So I gave it to him and we had a hot time.
next time he wanted to hang out I said I could give him 20.
He was still pretty tradey and I was getting bored so the next time he wanted to hang out I said i'd love to suck his cock but couldn't do the 20. he decided he had other plans.
Was going to write him off but then the next time we got together he fucked me and it was so good.
So either he's a low priced whore, or deeply closeted and trying to justify his cravings for cock. or both.
- I'm 60 and would enjoy having sex with a young hot guy, but it bothers me to be with someone who's not really interested in me (except for the money.) Makes me feel uncomfortable and as if I'm exploiting someone, so even though I can afford it, I won't do it. I don't have the same problem with strippers, however.
- I used to have the attitude that hooking was a victimless crime and that it should be legalized. Since then I learned some of the more ugly truths about the profession. A few truths are universal, though: NO ONE engages in prostitution because it's "fun," and many escorts risk their lives in multiple ways -- meaning physically and via disease -- during the course of their profession.
Most alarming, at least in the U.S., has been the HUGELY growing trend over the past decade or so towards human trafficking. Women, usually teen girls, are routinely kidnapped all over the world and forced into sex slavery, both because they're be beaten or killed if they don't and also because they'll never see their families again if they don't follow their pimp's orders. Most of the ads on Backpage.com and the like are for this type of coerced sex slave, which any decent person should find utterly repugnant.
A similar story exists in countries particularly known for their sex trade, namely Thailand and the Philippines. Girls as young as 12 are forced by their families to sell their bodies, mostly to disgusting Western pedo freaks, in order to support their rural families back home. The story is the same with "ladyboys," with the added proviso that many have been forced out of their homes because they're "girls.'
Anyway, your best bet for finding a prostitute doing it willing is to look for someone "older" (25-35) women and men in larger cities who don't appear to work for a pimp. They may not like what they do, and certainly a lot of them do it to support drug habits, but at least they're not human sex slaves.
- There is some truth to R53s argument that compared to flipping burgers for minimum wage, prostitution is not the worst job in the world, providing you can avoid the freaks.
- I think that's part of the problem, R57. Once you're in the that life making that kind of money, how do you ever function in an office or flipping burgers?
- [quote] NO ONE engages in prostitution because it's "fun,"
Perhaps... But it's also fair to say that no one works in McDonald's or works in a sweatshop or at a factory or even becomes a corporate manager or a Wall STreet broker because it's "fun."
And no one here is arguing in favor of kidnapping or child slavery, r56. It's not convincing to conflate them that way.
- The problems is like McDonalds, the industry preys on a weak job market for low cost providers.
- "Every job has its drawbacks, and it must beat working in a sweatshop or laying bricks or serving burgers for minimum wage... And in some cases I'm sure it beats slaving away in corporate America."
Maybe in your opinion. But I'd prefer to work in a sweatshop or lay bricks or flip burgers or work for corporate America rather than have some disgusting stranger shoot his jism down my throat.
- Does that mean McDonald's should be illegal, r60?
- "There is some truth to R53s argument that compared to flipping burgers for minimum wage, prostitution is not the worst job in the world, providing you can avoid the freaks"
Honey, if you're a prostitute there is no way possible to "avoid the freaks." Servicing "freaks" comes with the territory. Who do think seeks out prostitutes, anyway? Just normal, average people who just want to hire somebody to have sex with them?
Prostitution is a dangerous, risky profession, unless you're one of those "high class" escorts that you hear about who live in penthouses and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year servicing the rich and powerful. But I think even those happy hookers come across their share of "freaks", too.
- [quote]Prostitution is a dangerous, risky profession, unless you're one of those "high class" escorts that you hear about who live in penthouses and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year servicing the rich and powerful. Exactly The rich and powerful can easily get laid for free. It's enjoying their kinks they pay the money for.
- Well R4 & R11, though the transaction on paper might appear to be, calling illegal prostitution a victimless crime is a bit of a stretch. It should be legal, licensed and regulated to protect the sex workers. And they could pay taxes too.
- I don't know - I think there are a lot of lonely people in the world who don't want to go through all the problems of picking up someone for sex.
I'm sure there are some unattractive ones, but I bet there are a lot of professionals in their 40's and 50's.
Gay male prostitutes probably do well and have a very diverse clientele.
Now women in prostitution seems very dicey - there's just a lot of competition and men seem to watch a lot of straight porn that really denegrates women. Regulated prostitution is totally different.
- Being a prostitute is a commercial dream. You have a product to sell and after you sell it you still have it.
- It's not a product, R67, it's a service. And the people who offer it have a relatively short shelf life.
- How would I do as a prostitute? I'm tall and white, have been called very handsome, and I'm a top. I'm 23 and graduated from a top 10 University with honors. I am skillful at dinner conversation and competent in black-tie situations. I have not been successful as a writer but refuse to give up the hours. I live in Los Angeles.
Is there a market for someone like me? How much could I charge? What would I have to do?

- R69 - most men don't care about your credentials that much - they just want sex. So you really should be good looking, in shape, and have a big dick.
Now, if you're going for the week-long escort gigs, then yes, your abilities will be counted on.
I was on a gay cruise and I couldn't believe how many escorts there were. Granted, they were with guys 65+ - but no one batted an eyelash.
- r70, thank you for your help. I was a thick 6.5 inches when I measured last (in 9th grade) and usually have the bigger dick when I hookup. I have a gym membership that I do not use...but then I am already in shape.
How much do week-long gigs usually pay?
Naive%20Nancy
- R71 - I would guess around $3500-$5000 for a week. Maybe more. Typically an overnight is a $1000 or so, but you'd have to discount for a week.
- I'll be a glamorous prostitute like Audrey Hepburn or Julia Roberts and all my Johns will be like Richard Gere.

- The thing about men who hire escorts - whether they are gay or straight - is that they are hardly ever younger and good-looking. Most of the time they are creepy and disgusting - think Jack Nicholson or Harvey Weinstein.
I could never have sex with guys who look like that.
And you know they'd want you to lick their ass
- You gotta do what you gotta do.
- R69. Here's my idea. Research as much as you can about high end escorting. Then do it for a year making sure to hook up with as many closeted celebs as possible. Then (since you are a writer) write one of those, "My Year of__________" books. Only yours will be a "tell all" outing all the Hollywood closet cases. Find a publisher and then promote it on Oprah, NPR, etc. I'd buy it.
- I can't find a guy who takes Diner's Club Card.

I don't even care if you are verbal or can read and write. If you have a nice body and ass and will get on your belly I don't care about anything else. I am looking for a trick not an escort it seems.
- Prostitution WHORES!
T.G.
- I did it on and off for about 3 years. I started when I lost my job and had a real hard time finding other work. My experience was the following:
All the clients were older or fat or ugly, in other words, they couldn't get someone to give them the time of day unless they paid them. More than a few were married.
All of them, except one, was a bottom/sub. Bottoms are a dime a dozen and its easy to find a cocksucker, even if you're not attractive, who will suck your dick for free. Tops are in far more demand. As a top with a big dick and who can pull off the rough trade act can I did okay. None of them wanted me to suck their dick or to top me. I suspect that if I offered to suck their dick or let them fuck me it would have been a deal breaker. And that was fine with me.
While sex of some sort always happened, what a lot of these guys wanted was to talk. Almost all of them spent as much time talking to me as they did having sex. They were lonely or felt they can tell me things they could never tell another because after all, who was I to judge?
- R80 Thanks -- that's a good perspective from someone who's been there. Can you expand a bit? Why did you stop? Would you have bottomed or done other stuff that you don't normally do if they paid enough? Etc.
- R81 I stopped once I got a job that was paying me decent money and I no longer needed the cash. For the right price, there may have been one or two things I would have considered doing that I normally would not do. But for the most part I was doing okay listen to some old queen ramble on about his job or friends or childhood and then let him go down on me.
- If it was blowjobs only I might have been able to do it in my younger days, but of course it's almost always full-on sex and there was no way I could've done that with old, fat gross guys.
- If I were going to hire someone, I'd want them to French kiss and have a lot of oral and body contact. I don't care that much about anal.
- I hook up once a week with one of three that I know. Wednesday, for my birthday, I'm going out with all three for a foursome. I'm a complete top, I bareback, and never had an STD.
- It's not 'selling yourself', it is selling a SERVICE. Sex workers are not owned by their clients.
And yes, it's a good living, but very risky if you don't have a good agency or reputable references. Being a sugar baby is much safer.
part-time%20escort
- I used to know a girl who was a "high class call girl". Most of her clients were businessmen staying at city hotels for conferences. She said they often treated her badly, especially foreigners from countries where prostitutes are treated with extreme contempt.
- No, I never would or could. I had the chance to be a rich man's toy when younger but was not mentally or emotionally equipped to deal with the lifestyle. I do think that prostitution should be legalized and controlled.
- I think Australia and the Netherlands have legal male brothels. I'd consider going to something like that if he had one here in the US. At least it would be safer, assuming there were regulations about STD testing, etc.
- @74, this is 36 again. I thought the same thing at first, but was very wrong. A lot of my clients are what I consider attractive who come to NYC on business, are closeted, or just want a masculine dude or just want something very easy. My best clients are Asians, Europeans, married men or college kids from wealthy families. Most of the "hustlers" do it fulltime, I have a 9 to 5...so I do it by appointments only.
Also, word of mouth is huge in the "prostitution" business.
- I have written about my friend Stuart here before - although he came from a wealthy family, he always seemed to have a *lot* of money.
He was always truanting from school. Thing is, he was always wide awake and smartly dressed, and he would walk with me to school - then disappear.
Turns out, he would get a train into Edinburgh and hang around various public toilets, waiting to be picked up.
Did I mention that this started when he was about 12-years-old?
He vanished for about 10 years when he was 18 - and it wasn't a case of "what did you do?" as much as "what didn't you do?"
Drugs, prison, prostitution, porn - you name it, he did it...
He's now a counsellor and life-coach for drug addicts - and is still slightly bewildered about how he managed to escape being HIV+.
(His father was an evil predatory abuser, btw)
- "It's not 'selling yourself', it is selling a SERVICE"
I have a feeling you keep telling yourself that while you're sucking some guy's cock or rimming his ass: "I'm not selling myself, I'm selling a service, I'm not selling myself, it's a service, I'm not selling myself, I'm sellling a service, it's a service, a service, a service..."
- [quote]He was always truanting from school.
I've never heard that word used as a verb before.
- R93 - you didn't go to my school.
Truanting wasn't so much a verb as a profession...
r91
- No, R92, I'm usually thinking about how I'm going to spend the huge wad of cash I will get after he's done plowing me.
R86
- I seriously doubt R95 gets "a huge wad of cash" after some ugly, smelly, flabby old guy shoots a load of man gravy into his rosebud.
ALL prostitutes say they make a lot of money. I saw some talk show that featured prostitutes; a fat black hooker insisted she was "livin' large!" The audience was skeptical. An audience member asked how much she made; she said she made $5000 a WEEK. The audience howled at that; she was wearing a wig that looked like it came out of a garbage can. $5000 a week, and she can't afford to buy a decent wig? But I guess her bullshit was typical. Prostitutes are not the most honest people in the world.
- I have a hooker friend and he truly has a lot of money. He's smart with it though.
- How does he look r97? what age range is he in?
- R96, it's typical for anyone in any type of "sales" job to get grandiose and overstate their income. They even fool themselves into thinking they make more than they do. They typically take their best week EVER and quote that as "how much they make." Because it's "possible" to make $5000 per week, and maybe one time they got lucky and did make that much, they state that as their income. They conveniently forget all the weeks they made $1000 or less. I see it all the time with friends who are in sales/commission/cash/tip related jobs that tend to be feast or famine.
- R98 He's a good looking guy, although VERY high maintenance (you've never even met a woman with as many beauty products as he has). I don't even like him touching me because he gets makeup/spray tan on me when he does. He tells me he's 26 but I recently found out he's been lying to me. He's 34. He still swears he's 26 though.
- R91,
What did he go to prison for?
- R80,
I just watched a movie called The Sessions about a female escort who services a disabled guy. And I was interested to ask if you had any disabled clients? And if so, was it a large part of your clientele?
- r101 - drugs - possession with intent (two years).
And he says he's never had so much cock in his life (which, coming from Stuart, is REALLY saying something...)
- would pay a nice looking man just to see, sniff and lick his anus for an hour...
- "I just watched a movie called The Sessions about a female escort who services a disabled guy."
She wasn't an escort. She was a "sex surrogate." She tells him "I'm not a prostitute." And indeed a sex surrogate (a legitimate one (not just a hooker who's pretending to be one) is considered a type of therapist who only does a set amount of sessions with a client who has sexual problems. At least that's what I've heard.
By the way, "The Sessions" is a very good film.
Helen Hunt is nominated for an Oscar for her role as the sex surrogate. John Hawke should have been nominated, too. He was wonderful as the disabled man.
- This is a really interesting thread. Too bad we don't have more like this.
- To the person who says escorts don't make a lot of money: high end ladies make as much as 1-2 grand per session. My rate is 400, but I could probably go higher. That's 2800/week, 11k/month if I saw one client per day (and I do have regulars who like to give bonus shopping and other gifts). Not amazing, but not too bad for someone fresh out of college. Granted, I don't work that much, but I know PLENTY of women who do.

- Instead of comparing it with flipping burgers, compare it with other jobs that require a person to get up close and personal with people who aren't terribly attractive.
Let's put aside the storybook moral issues, and compare 30 minutes of completely safe (everything covered) sex with giving sponge baths in a nursing home, doing rehab and physical therapy, or even cleaning a neglected set of teeth--all respected jobs that don't pay a fraction of what a prostitute makes.
Frankly, I don't see much difference. Whether you're jerking old guys' cocks or emptying bedpans, at the end of the day you're probably gonna need a stiff drink.
- Good point, R108. Yick, I'd rather be a whore than clean someone's teeth.
- My opinion is mixed -- there are obvious cases where prostitution is a desperate choice and the person doing it is not doing so from a place of liberation. Especially where the person is very young.
But I know some sex workers who do it by choice and do it well.
- Regarding how much money a prostitute can make. Had I applied myself or worked through an agency, I could have easily made 2K a week, maybe even more. But I did the absolute minimum and earned just what I needed from doing about 8 hours a week of "work".

You know plenty of prostitutes? Do you live in a brothel? I can't think of any other way you would know "PLENTY" of these so-called "high end ladies (ladies?)", unless you're just a very sleazy person whose social circle consists of mostly paid cocksuckers.

Tending to a sick or elderly person's personal needs because they are unable to do it themselves is a hell of a lot different from sucking cock or rimming ass. Sex is an incredible personal intimacy; to equate it with brushing somebody's teeth or helping them go potty is ridiculous. Caregiving is NOT equivalent to prostitution!

Bitch, please, you must be new around here. Go read a few threads and get back to us about the incredible personal intimacy of a glory hole at an adult bookstore or the Ramble in Central Park.
