Anyone with a million dollar a year as a salary is considered rich to me. What about you?
I feel like to be truly wealthy you have to be so rich that you never have to work again.
At least 50 million.
These days I'd say at least a million liquid, $5 million total assets, annual income $350,000 or more.
Nature is the true wealth of this world.
Satin sheets to lie on, satin pillows to cry on.
Good question. Enough income earning assets (5 million plus, real estate you live in does not count) to provide a healthy income, those magic numbers of $200/250K per year I would say makes you wealthy. But these days, there are many with $10-100 million, and many with more, and many with billions. Fact is the high end of wealth has gone through the roof in the last 25 years. It's kind of decadent and of course a sign of economic decline when it happens concurrent with decline in the middle class. You'd think wealthy people who are players in policy and gov't would get smart and wake up to this. It's as if no one can play for the long game for anything anymore in the US.
99% have not a clue what wealth is. Don't even know what a good life consists of, most of them.
Slave society. Sorry, folks. You ain't seen big money.
"It's the fault of those lazy poor bastards that we are in debt."
100 grand a year in salary.
Having a private plane, having major buildings named after your family, being able to donate millions of dollars to charities each year. Anything less than this is comfortable.
Salary? Annual income?
Wealth has nothing to do with either of those things.
[quote]100 grand a year in salary.
I can live a good life on about $30K/yr.
I can't even begin to imagine placing $70K/yr into savings.
Well, all of this is so relative, it's kind of pointless. Six figures in Manhattan is not the same as six figures in Omaha.
Plus, it depends on whether or not you have children, how much of a debt you are carrying...
$100k is nowhere near wealthy these days, especially if you live in an income tax state.
One of my friends makes 3 million a year, just bought a million dollar house, owns 3 very high end cars. He is also the most miserable SOB I know. With all that money and shallow bitches in this town, cant find a boyfriend.
I am currently unemployed, husband takes care of me, happy as a clam.
Wealth is how happy you are not how much money you have in your bank account.
