Oh I thought this was a Sondheim thread
THANKS, finally !!!
Well, my favorite Sally is Ms. Sally Kirkland.
Because she is perpetually mourning her defeat at the Oscars (she lost to Cher), and her sorrow is a thing of bitter beauty.
She also gave a fantastic performance in "Anna", the film for which she was nominated, and really was a frotrunner that year, having won the GG for dramatic actress.
Her career nosedived after this role, and she is a tragic casualty of Oscar hopes and chances.
She really is due for a comeback cameo in some Tarantino flick one of these days, or at least a bit part in a Woody Allen film.
Why is nobody seizing the opportunity of bringing her back from the dead, and turning her forgotten career into a small surreal work of art?
Write-in vote for Sally Ann Howes.
Truly Scrumptious, and her Desiree in NYCO's A Little Night Music.
Sally Brown! The role that made Kristin Chenoweth a STAR!
"really was a frotrunner"
I'm sure you've done a lot of frot-running too in your time, R2.
Well, r3, you can vote for her in the last slot, "Sally Ann".
That is dangerously close, is it not?
Sally standing at the door...
(It would have been Sally Ann Howes, but she almost broke up Steve and Eydie.)
Aunt Sally. Makes pralines.
Charlie Brown's sister Sally.
Everyone seems to have forgotten about me and my fans. I used to be a HUGE STAR!
Well, Sally Field is leading, with Sallies Kirkland and Struthers tying for second place.
A good omen for Sally Field's Oscar ambitions this year?
Well, I do think Amy Adams might take it away from her, actually.
Where's Sally Draper? Our favorite bitch in training from MAD MEN???
Just because it's currently on hiatus? How quickly we forget....
Sally Albright. It may be a film cliche now, but her loud fake orgasm at the Carnegie Deli is still hilarious.
"Sally!" Starring the lovely Marilyn Miller!
Thanks for directing our attention to Sally Rand, r13. She sounds fabulous!
Also, I should have included 'Sneakin Sally Through the Alley', a great song by Allen Toussaint, sung by Robert Palmer on his debut album.
Anyone know it?
You seem cute R2/R18. Tell us more about yourself. Your personality seems much like that of my boyfriend: pains in the ass but adorable.
Patty Duke b/c Sally Field stole her career :-)
Well, I'm a pain in the ass but adorable.
Lay Down Sally.
My favorite Sally was Mary Page Keller -- no contest. I admit, though, that Taylor Miller did better than I'd anticipated.
Sally Go 'Round the Roses
Much like the Joan thread, this was a very necessary thread and poll. I would like to thank OP for posting it. I would also like to thank R2 for thinking of it and requesting that it be posted. May this thread be fruitful!
Sobby Fields gets on my nerves with her overwrought acting. Constantly has a crying scene. zzzzzzzzzzzz
Sally Rogers. Smart, sassy, and still single.
A young Fergie provided the voice of Sally Brown in some of the Peanuts TV specials of the 1990's.
I agree, r26. That's why she won't win; Amy Adams will take it, or possibly Ann Dowd, in a shocker.
r25, I see what you did there. And I will have to disagree with you. OP is whoever comes up with the idea, and is the first poster communicating that idea - regardless of the thread in which this happens. OP has been me, in both instances.
Try not to be jealous, hon.
NEW THREAD REQUEST
The Joan and Sally threads have proved to be a great success, so we need one final thread, to give DL a trifecta.
Could a paying member *please* start a thread & POLL:
"Who is your favorite Ann(e), and why?"
Poll options should be:
Anne Boleyn, Anne Hathaway, Ann Dowd, Ann Sothern, Ann Curry, Queen Ann Romney, Evil Ann Coulter, Sinister Anne Archer, Anne of Green Gables.
Please word the poll exactly like that.
Thank you in advance !!
r31, you can substitute Ann Sothern with Anne Rice, if you like.
It is spelled ANNE Rice, though. Not Ann.
In any case, please start the Anne thread, for it is VERY much needed!
Please do it now !!
Thanks in advance.
