To make it interesting, cast the movie with stars who have some semblance in their personal lives to the drama in the film.
No.
Beyonce and Danny Devito.
Rhea Perlman
Aww, c'mon. How about reverse casting. It could be the man who is the star and the woman who is the has-been.
Fantasia and Lenny Kravitz
Kim KarTrashian and Kanye
Lindsay Lohan and Justin Timberlake
The Ghosts of Liz Taylor and Dick Burton
There aren't any singer/actresses interesting enough to build the film around. If Jennifer Hudson hadn't already played Effie then she'd be a great choice, but to do ASIB now would be treading the same ground.
If set in the world of acting....Michael Fassbender and Juno Temple?
I'd go see a gay version.
No one could ever top the Streisand and Kristofferson.

Great idea!
The last and final remake of A Star is Born concluded the weeks following April 8, 1994.
I always wanted Cher in the lead role instead of Barbra in the 70s version.
Cher would have been fantastic.
Rihanna/ Chris Brown
I'd rather see "A Star Does Porn."
[quote]I always wanted Cher in the lead role instead of Barbra in the 70s version.
Cher thought she had the role and was actually waiting at home for her agent to deliver the contract for her to sign. After waiting nervously for a couple of hours waiting for him to arrive, her agent called and said that Barbra Streisand wanted the movie and that the studio was going to give it to her. Cher was furious and devastated.
Elaine Stritch and Zac Efron
Bingo! R16
R15
For real ? I never heard that. Cher would have been more believeable than Barbra.
I guess Cher got over it because she and Barbra are friends now and socialize frequently. A recent tweet of Cher's was 'I love the Brolins!"
Jennifer Hudson cannot act and could not carry a music drama like A Star Is Born.
There is no musical star in Hollywood who could do the part. If they remake the movie, it should be closer to the original and be a straight drama about actors, not singers.
For real--Cher was up for the role before Streisand.
I thought Eastwood was going to do a remake with Justina Timberfake and Be-fucking-wigged?
R19 Streisand was the producer and put up some of the financing. It was her production company that made the picture. That's kind of like saying so and so was up for the role of Lucy Ricardo, but at the last minute the network went with Ball.
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore
Cher would have been better than cunt Barbra.
Mandy Moore and Jim Carrey.

Is this the same Jennifer Hudson who has an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a British Academy Film Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, all for her performance in a musical drama?
"How about reverse casting. It could be the man who is the star and the woman who is the has-been."
Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellwegger.
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore.
Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock.
Yes, and it was a completely sung musical drama, with no straight acting required. For her 'acting' abilities, see 'Sex and the City.'
Rebel Wilson & Rebel Wilson
Luke Macfarlane & Wentworth Miller
2007
Betty White and Justin Bieber.
Boring idea for a thread. Bleh.
Here's the perfect casting.
Esperanza Spaulding and Luke Evans, both can sing and will compliment each other.
By the way Esperanza was the one who beat out Justin Bieber for a Grammy, who got all the hate mail for it.
R31, everyone is getting it wrong. The idea is to cast it with people whose lives mirror those in the film. My choice is Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green or Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Brodrick.
R27 did you SEE Dreamgirls? The stage musical was sung through, but the movie most certainly wasn't. Plenty of dialogue.
