Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL sustained a leg injury after she was mugged in Paris, France, according to a new U.S. report. The beauty was hailing a cab in the French capital when she was violently attacked by thugs, who left her with a torn ligament. Campbell went to police to report the incident, which happened over a month ago, before boarding a private jet to Vail, Colorado, where she received treatment from a top orthopaedic surgeon. A source tells the New York Post gossip column Page Six, "It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone. She was attacked in the street as she hailed a cab, and robbed. "Her leg was injured as she was violently pushed to the ground. She was understandably very upset and shaken up." Campbell was first spotted using a wheelchair last month (Dec12) but she has kept quiet about how she was hurt. She is now believed to be recovering in Miami, Florida, ahead of the launch of her new TV show The Face next month (Feb13).

Agree with R24 - there is no way someone as grandly self-obsessed as her would be standing in the street, alone, late at night, looking for a taxi. My guess would be she's had some sort of surgery and doesn't want to remind anyone that she's of an age now that minor surgeries will start to be necessary. Maybe she twisted her leg that time she fell off the Vivienne Westwood shoes and now it's catching up with her 42 year old bony knees. Or she got a cramp from all the backpedaling she did trying to deny that she was paid in (untaxed) blood diamonds. There are several versions of this story going around. The NY Post says, Naomi Campbell was injured when she was violently attacked and robbed by bikers on a Paris street. The supermodel was set upon by thugs on November 21 in the historic 4th Arrondissement as she tried to get into a car. Her leg was injured in the attack, with the model suffering a suspected torn ligament. The paper Le Parisien cited police sources that Campbell had been attacked by two bikers at 7 Rue de Moussy. It said the thugs had attempted to steal her bag, but failed. It added that Campbell had refused to seek emergency medical care.
Sheesh, she's lucky...She could have gotten a blood clot from flying immediately after the ligament tear...
7 Rue de Moussy is the address listed for the top designer Azzedine Alaia. Naomi has been the longtime muse and a close friend of the Tunisian-born designer. They met when she was a teenage model. She often stays with Alaia, who she describes as a father figure, on trips to Paris.
