Kathy is friends with too many A-listers to recapture the hiariousness of her specials before 2006. Her last two specials contained "Let me tell you about hanging out with Cher!' sections. One of them was "Cher and I didn't know how to order a pizza!". Really?
She's not remotely interesting anymore.

Does anyone find her gay stereotyping shtick tedious, not to mention insulting? We get it, Kathy...being gay is ALL about attending "Liz and Dick" parties and worrying about a hair being out of place.
Kathy used to be hilarious, but for some time now the bits I've seen of her stand-up are re-hashes of the reality shows she watches like the Housewives and American Idol, which I have zero interest in. And she's still talking about Sarah Palin, who hasn't been relevant in years. Kathy was at her funniest when she talked shit about real A-Listers like Cruise and Paltrow, but she hasn't done that in a long time. Her act is tired and predictable now, and it's too bad because I was a huge fan. I hope she can get back to doing some A-Lister stuff because what she's been talking about for years now is beyond tired.
Most of her act now is talking about stuff she's seen on tv. It's funny when you think about. She's makes money talking about tv shows and calls it her act. I still love her though.
It's moderately interesting the reversal she's done for her talk show. When it started she boldly said it would be different because she didn't want celeb guests and wanted to feature non-famous people giving their opinions on pop culture crap. But by the end of that first trial run season she had celebs on every week. And now she's proudly promoting her guests for the start of the new season next week will be Jane Lynch, Lisa Kudrow, and Liza.
Her "scared straight" shtick was peculiarly homophobic, as was the bit about the lesbian sister on Housewives. I used to love her but she's really become boring. And Groban is a pussy hound??? Oh Kathy! This is the same bitch who mercilessly and hysterically outed Clay Aiken? She's SO dull now.

I saw her live show last year and it was a lot better than any of her taped shows. She looks great tonight. Her hair color is fabulous!

I say chill out about all her gay jokes. She doesn't mean them in a malicious way, and being able to publicly laugh at ourselves just leads to greater acceptance of homosexuality in the long run, imo. Stereotypes of all groups are widely made fun of by most comedians - racial stereotypes, gender stereotypes, and yes, even sexuality stereotypes. Before anyone says that straight people aren't subjected to the same kinds of jokes, just STFU in advance. Frau soccer mom jokes, anyone? Douchey straight frat boy jokes? Fill in the blank with your own stereotypes, but they've all been made fun of in our culture. It's a sign of being accepted, not ostracized. And YES, I realize that the standard gay stereotypes don't apply to everyone, the same way everyone knows that all racial/gender/etc. stereotypes don't apply to every single member of that group. It doesn't matter. That's not why the jokes are funny. The jokes are funny precisely because they play on exaggerated stereotypes.

Letterman had her on this week. She's often said he doesn't like her. But because of the ratings and buzz for her Anderson Blow Job stunt, he booked her. After showing the BJ clip, he commented "I don't have a dog in this hunt". The "dog" reference obviously meant as an insult to Kathy. She got it and it registered on her face for a second. But she was kissing his ass. So she let it go.

Look, she's a total has-been. The old Kathy would have written a hysterical routine about Cooper's boyfriend getting photographed in the park kissing that other guy. She'd do jokes about Cooper's boyfriend running a porn themed dive bar. Then he'd quickly de-friend her, just as Brooke shields did after those jokes about Shield's wedding. She's right up the ass of these folks now. Her whole routine before was "D List actress/comedienne gains proximity to big celebs then tells their crazy stories." Her best routines...Jerry Seinfeld snubbing her, Sharon Stone at the AMFAR event...were routines where she bonded with her audience about celebrity vanity and narcissism. That can't be replaced with the play-by-play recounting of conversations from the Housewives shows. But she likes being pals with the A-listers now, and she protects them I mean, that Groban thing was utterly pathetic and a huge contrast to her old Clay Aiken routines. She'll still throw a C-list guy like the Dog Whisperer under the bus, but her routine on Miley Cyrus was affectionate and not remotely scathing.

I always thought the Shields wedding story was in poor taste, given that it was more about Terri Shields than it was Brooke. And Brooke did give Kathy her big break. Unlike her other stories, this was more of a private, family event. I could see why Brooke took it personally. Sandra Bernhard has stated that she was offered the "D List" show first, but didn't take it because she knows too many cool and edgy people in the business to go around calling herself D List. She also didn't like the tone of the whole thing, like she was begging for love from the public.

Her ex suggested that she was lying about the stolen money. but he was apparently unable to publicly comment because he'd signed a nondisclosure agreement as part of the D List series. She certainly threw him under the bus. The interesting thing is that her first assistant quit because of how she felt Kathy was treating the ex. I always wondered what the real story was.

Now, whole segments of her act are just transcribes of reality television scenes. She doesn't even make funny comments about these scenes, she literally just acts them out. It's really, really lazy. I still like her, but I hope she improves her material. Oh, and the flats with that dress looked depressing.

I'm glad others are starting to see her money-grubbing ways. I used to 'Like' her on Facebook and that's when it became painfully obvious to me that this woman is ALL about the money, and only sees "the gays" as walking/talking wallets. Every fucking post was trying to sell SOMETHING. Every single one! When it spiraled down to the point of publishing a book with her fucking MOTHER as the supposed author, I'd about had it. I've watched most of her comedy specials, they're usually interesting enough to watch once, but this was the first one I thought she bombed. She's repeating herself and her obsessions are boring. Just because she can do a bad French-Canadian accent doesn't mean we need to be subjected to a endless, and quite boring retelling of an encounter with Celine Dion, who frankly isn't all that anyway. I'm hardly impressed with Kathy's taste that she's an avid Celine fan. Kathy's become repulsive and needs to go away for a few years.
The cunt got a taste of her own medicine when she was on Jay Leno once and he said that she's like the ugly girl that the drunk guy in a bar takes home! I was never much of a Jay fan before, but I was laughing my ass off when he said that! I agree with R72. That schtick with Anderson is growing old. She treats him like a piece of furniture or a pet. He's a grown man for god's sake. If you look online, there are photos of she and Tom walking hand-in-hand (on her time off, not when she's walking offstage -- she always has someone hold her hand then because she can't see well due to botched Lasik).

Pure and simple - she stole Joan Rivers act. She met Joan while she guest starred on Brooke Shields show. Joan is very upfront and honest about how gays gave her a career in the West Village and how they've always been there for her no matter what and are very loyal. Fast forward - guess who is dissing on celebs (like Joan did) and pandering to gays? I used to like her, but I'm sick of the 'my gays' shit too.
