Kathy is friends with too many A-listers to recapture the hiariousness of her specials before 2006. Her last two specials contained "Let me tell you about hanging out with Cher!' sections. One of them was "Cher and I didn't know how to order a pizza!". Really?
She's not remotely interesting anymore.
She's so 2006.
Does anyone find her gay stereotyping shtick tedious, not to mention insulting? We get it, Kathy...being gay is ALL about attending "Liz and Dick" parties and worrying about a hair being out of place.
Kathy used to be hilarious, but for some time now the bits I've seen of her stand-up are re-hashes of the reality shows she watches like the Housewives and American Idol, which I have zero interest in. And she's still talking about Sarah Palin, who hasn't been relevant in years. Kathy was at her funniest when she talked shit about real A-Listers like Cruise and Paltrow, but she hasn't done that in a long time. Her act is tired and predictable now, and it's too bad because I was a huge fan. I hope she can get back to doing some A-Lister stuff because what she's been talking about for years now is beyond tired.
Most of her act now is talking about stuff she's seen on tv. It's funny when you think about. She's makes money talking about tv shows and calls it her act. I still love her though.
It's moderately interesting the reversal she's done for her talk show.
When it started she boldly said it would be different because she didn't want celeb guests and wanted to feature non-famous people giving their opinions on pop culture crap. But by the end of that first trial run season she had celebs on every week.
And now she's proudly promoting her guests for the start of the new season next week will be Jane Lynch, Lisa Kudrow, and Liza.
Her "scared straight" shtick was peculiarly homophobic, as was the bit about the lesbian sister on Housewives. I used to love her but she's really become boring. And Groban is a pussy hound??? Oh Kathy! This is the same bitch who mercilessly and hysterically outed Clay Aiken? She's SO dull now.
[quote]Her "scared straight" shtick was peculiarly homophobic, as was the bit about the lesbian sister on Housewives.
For some reason, all of these female comics think it's cute to make homophobic jokes, and of course many dumb gays are stupid enough to think it's funny and OK simply because the comic will claim they "love the gays!".
Honestly, I'm tired of gays always being the joke or comedy fodder. What exactly is so funny about being gay? I don't hear people making straight jokes.
I heard that her live shows are better, because Bravo cuts it up and cuts out the parts about celebrities so they won't be sued.
[quote]Does anyone find her gay stereotyping shtick tedious, not to mention insulting?
Only the 60-plus eldergays.
R16, speak for yourself, asshole.
God, her act is so tired. She's actually become the kind of person she would have made fun of ten years ago.
Love her. She gets a life long pass from me.
Loved her when she made of fun of the A-listers. Now, suprisingly, she parties with them. She was recently at Jane Fonda's birthday party with Sean Penn, Streisand, etc. Now, don't tell me there were no good stories there. One of her best bits was crapping on Brooke Shields wedding.
Ugh, so not funny anymore.
Who would pay to see Kathy talk about shit she saw on tv and what she did with Cher? How long does it take her to come up with this stuff, maybe 20 minutes? I would give her a break if it was funny but sadly it's not.
And yes she needs to stop sterotyping gay guys.
I thought it was mean and in poor taste, so she saw Judith Light picking at her ass, what's the big deal.
Oh please, you people would bitch about a free lunch. Kathy Griffin is funny. Perhaps she's not as hilarious or outrageous as she was a few years ago, but she's funny and entertaining.
In addition, she's a hell of a lot funnier than every comedian I see on Comendy Central, where everyone gets an hour special.
With so many of you, it seems like you can't offer a compliment because it wouldn't be 'cool' to like KG.
I saw her live show last year and it was a lot better than any of her taped shows. She looks great tonight. Her hair color is fabulous!
Has her new facework settled yet? It still looked a little puffy on NYE with AC...
I say chill out about all her gay jokes. She doesn't mean them in a malicious way, and being able to publicly laugh at ourselves just leads to greater acceptance of homosexuality in the long run, imo. Stereotypes of all groups are widely made fun of by most comedians - racial stereotypes, gender stereotypes, and yes, even sexuality stereotypes. Before anyone says that straight people aren't subjected to the same kinds of jokes, just STFU in advance. Frau soccer mom jokes, anyone? Douchey straight frat boy jokes? Fill in the blank with your own stereotypes, but they've all been made fun of in our culture. It's a sign of being accepted, not ostracized.
And YES, I realize that the standard gay stereotypes don't apply to everyone, the same way everyone knows that all racial/gender/etc. stereotypes don't apply to every single member of that group. It doesn't matter. That's not why the jokes are funny. The jokes are funny precisely because they play on exaggerated stereotypes.
She needed "cards" this year on the New Years Eve show.
exactly, allegedly, agreed.
That wig is a little much, eh?
You should have seen Griffin on the Joan Rivers Roast; people were just as brutal on her as they were on Joan. At one point Joan herself actually slapped her.
Letterman had her on this week. She's often said he doesn't like her. But because of the ratings and buzz for her Anderson Blow Job stunt, he booked her. After showing the BJ clip, he commented "I don't have a dog in this hunt". The "dog" reference obviously meant as an insult to Kathy. She got it and it registered on her face for a second. But she was kissing his ass. So she let it go.
[quote]And Groban is a pussy hound???
Yeah, that was WEIRD. Groban has been outed on websites for being, um, the opposite of a pussy hound.
And what was up with Kathy's dress? She looked like a Russian peasant woman on line for bread.
R24...MARY! Calm down!
R27...it's not just "stereotypes." Doing a joke about a big scary lesbian, or about guys scaring teenagers by threatening them with 'scary anal sex'... if that bs was coming out of a straight male comic you'd be livid. She went way too far.
And the Groban thing was creepy. Why is she inning that mess? Her new closet-case friend?
she needs to stop talking about her mother - we get it: she drinks box wine and says crazy things - not that funny
Wow, is she telling you all the programs on her DVR?! Is she showing off her "body"?! Is she name dropping people she barely knows?! Is she pandering to "her gays" in the audience and pathetically waiting a beat too long for applause?
She was hilarious. Then she decided she'd rather be an insider than an outsider - I don't blame her (who wouldn't?), but this robbed her of alllll her funny.
THANK YOU, R36. She acts like her mother is this class act, and I don't think she's done one thing on the D-List show, or Kathy's new talk show, that's ever even made me crack a smile.
r32, she was booked on Letterman before the NYE special happened so he didn't book her because of the blow job.
WHO still follows this woman besides WeHo and Chicago queens between the ages of 40 and 55?
Maggie Griffin doesn't actually drink that much. It's all a gag, and it's tired. "Mexicans all love soccer" was truly funny, on the other hand.
We hear she's very popular in the regions!
She said Celine doesn't lip synch. Bullshit, she lipsynchs practically the whole show in Vegas.
I like Kathy a lot. She's funny. But I wish she's go back to shooting darts at real celebrities, movie/TV stars, etc.
So much of her act now is aimed at insulting the 'Real Housewives, Honey Boo Boo, etc., etc. I don't watch those shows (yes, I know who those people are, but I don't have first hand knowledge about their trash TV dialogue), so I don't think that reality TV bullshit is all that funny.
Plus, it's easy to make fun of famehwores like the Real Housewives. But I don't really know or care about those awful people.
Thanks R45, I couldn't put my finger on it but now I get it - she's fucking lazy. That's why I hate her shows now. She got really, really lazy.
R46. I don't think it's a case of Kathy Griffin being lazy. She still works as hard, does just as many concert dates and is on stage during her comedy routines for extended periods of time. That's not being lazy.
Kathy just appears to be be making fun of reality TV trash, which is not as funny as the actual stars who she used to use as comedy material. Joan Rivers still makes fun of stars. Rarely does Joan even mention the Real Housewives, etc.
Is is because Kathy is trying to play it safe by not insulting real stars any longer--and instead goes for these reality TV and other pop culture trash?
15 minutes on the Real Housewives, 15 minutes on American Idol, and 15 minutes on the Palin family. This is Kathy's entire act now and it's the same damn thing over and over. She needs new material.
She did two shows here and cut them together for a Bravo special. Apparently though the second show (the one added after her real fans bought all the tickets to the first show) was much, much funnier. Irritating, but whatever.
For someone so wild and open about everything, she never talks about her boyfriend or her personal life all that much.
She's so ugly, I can't stand looking at her more than ten minutes at a time.
Her Miley Cyrus impression was good. I liked the story about her tits showing through her blouse and not giving a shit.
Does she still employ a phalanx of attorneys to swat back defamation lawsuits?
If she's not, then this is the problem.
She needs to be brave enough again to get the snot sued out of her.
Edgier, more outrageous, and being served with legal papers --- that's what allowed her to make some great comedy
She's mentioned more than once over the past few years that she has sworn off plastic surgery, so I was surprised to see her on Letterman with a new pair of eyes.
Look, she's a total has-been.
The old Kathy would have written a hysterical routine about Cooper's boyfriend getting photographed in the park kissing that other guy. She'd do jokes about Cooper's boyfriend running a porn themed dive bar. Then he'd quickly de-friend her, just as Brooke shields did after those jokes about Shield's wedding. She's right up the ass of these folks now. Her whole routine before was "D List actress/comedienne gains proximity to big celebs then tells their crazy stories." Her best routines...Jerry Seinfeld snubbing her, Sharon Stone at the AMFAR event...were routines where she bonded with her audience about celebrity vanity and narcissism. That can't be replaced with the play-by-play recounting of conversations from the Housewives shows. But she likes being pals with the A-listers now, and she protects them I mean, that Groban thing was utterly pathetic and a huge contrast to her old Clay Aiken routines. She'll still throw a C-list guy like the Dog Whisperer under the bus, but her routine on Miley Cyrus was affectionate and not remotely scathing.
I like Kathy. A lot.
But the whole poking-fun-at-celebrities thing is fresh only in cycles. She should ask her mentor Joan Rivers about that. And she's run through the current cycle.
She needs to find another vein to tap. I've seen her live and she's wonderful. But the Kathy talk show and the last season of D List were tired, tired, tired.
[quote] Then she decided she'd rather be an insider than an outsider - I don't blame her (who wouldn't?), but this robbed her of alllll her funny
R55, the idea that Kathy Griffin may value her friendship with Anderson Cooper enough for her to not do any of the things you suggest has never crossed your mind? I do think they genuinely like each other and she has his back.
I always thought the Shields wedding story was in poor taste, given that it was more about Terri Shields than it was Brooke. And Brooke did give Kathy her big break. Unlike her other stories, this was more of a private, family event. I could see why Brooke took it personally.
Sandra Bernhard has stated that she was offered the "D List" show first, but didn't take it because she knows too many cool and edgy people in the business to go around calling herself D List. She also didn't like the tone of the whole thing, like she was begging for love from the public.
Somebody stop the killing! Please, somebody stop the killing.
I kind of resent the fact that she was merciless with Clay Aiken, but never a peep about Anderson Cooper or even Lance Bass. It's hypocritical and brown-nosing. Also, recounting a scene from Real Housewives doesn't provide any funny insight. She still has some very funny observations and a lot of wit, but it's too bad she's wasting it on such dry material. And, enough with the Marcus Bachmann jokes. Stale.
Her D-List show was fake. She already found out her then-husband Matt stole money from her and was in the process of divorcing him before the first season even began filming. Yet she filmed with him in the first season like they were in love. She also cut ties with her two gay friends Tony and I forget the other one's name before filming because she felt they didn't support her when she told them Matt stole money. They disagree. Yet she asked them to film with her in the first season like they were still friends.
[quote]I kind of resent the fact that she was merciless with Clay Aiken, but never a peep about Anderson Cooper or even Lance Bass. It's hypocritical and brown-nosing.
I agree. It wasn't fair at all. She seems to think that it's OK to out gay people as long as she isn't friends with them. So hypocritical.
[quote]She said Celine doesn't lip synch. Bullshit, she lipsynchs practically the whole show in Vegas.
THIS! I wonder how much Celine's camp paid KG to promote her Vegas show?
R57...LOL! She likes the proximity to fame. She likes the connections.
She's betrayed her friends before for good material. If you honestly think she loves Anderson Cooper, I've got a couple of bridges to sell you. She was supposedly very close to Shields, who had asked her to not keep including her family troubles in her act. Shield was extremely embarrassed by the stuff with her mother. Yet Kathy had no problem dishing it up. She's not a loyal friend.
I think she's just an opportunist.
Trailer park trash Kathy Griffin just is a Vanderbilt-wannabe. I remember when she was on the air telling Larry King about Anderson "oh, but he's a VANDERBILT!" to her mother years ago before Glo befriended her.
Gloria isn't too bright herself, Anderson has said. Maybe they share plastic surgery stories.
Her ex suggested that she was lying about the stolen money. but he was apparently unable to publicly comment because he'd signed a nondisclosure agreement as part of the D List series. She certainly threw him under the bus.
The interesting thing is that her first assistant quit because of how she felt Kathy was treating the ex. I always wondered what the real story was.
R61 I never did like her or her "I love the gays!" schtick ever since that story years ago about how a gay club in NY asked if she would come perform at a fundraiser they were having (I think for AIDS) and they offered her around $5,000 and she wouldn't do it unless she got $15,000. That's when I knew she was full of shit about loving "the gays" and was just a money hungry bitch.
I feel like she or one of her minions started this thread and contributed a number of comments defending her 'act'. I have thought she was funny in the past but no longer.
The whole thing is played out, safe and not that funny. You can tell how money grabbing she is - nothing wrong with making your living but there is something about her...
[quote]The whole thing is played out, safe and not that funny. You can tell how money grabbing she is - nothing wrong with making your living but there is something about her...
It's embarassing to see how cheap the old hag is. I watched a few episodes of her reality show when it first came out (a few episodes was enough for me), and on one this bitch was actually begging some guy to give her a sectional sofa for free! Bitch, if you can afford to live in the Hollywood Hills and drive a Mercedes, then you can afford to buy your own damn sofa.
There's was nothing funny or "cute" about it, just pathetic.
I agree with those who hate her "my gays" crap. She's not the only one who does it either. I want to slap the bitch everytime she does it. We are not her anything. We are not sheep, pocket elves or anything else. She and other celebrities have used us long enough. I'm just so sick of it. She is just over the hill kiss ass.
Okay, I'll admit she's a self-aggrandizing bitch and her schtick is getting schtale but I read her book and ended up liking her.
I really liked the stand she took on the Catholic Church and the gays. She doesn't back down. And her pervert brother, it's a touching story. She has worked her ass off. She's the kind you see in Hollywood a lot. Chances are slim they're gonna make it. She worked her way up to the middle and now she has aspirations to the A List, while she makes fun of Celine Dion. I'm afraid she's turning into a female Truman Capote.
Used to like her, but now with all her plastic surgery and pounds of makeup she looks like she's made entirely of plastic. Then too she tries soo hard now--like her ballsack schtick with Anderson, a little disgusting and not funny. (Also agree with those who don't like "my gays." It's like we're her cute pets that she gets to make fun of but nobody else can.)
Brohs, she's like my mom's age. Whatthefuckever
Taylor, 19 and stumblin on Datalounge
No offense R58, but Sandra Bernhard is a shrill belligerent cunt who seems to think she had more opportunities than she had when she alienated many people early on in her career by being the embarrassing combination of talentless/unlikeable.
Sex and the City wouldn't have gone past the pilot stage if she got the role of Miranda like she pretended she turned down.
When is Kathy's interview with Liza and Lisa airing?
Kathy's material has always been kind of lazy, but at least initially, she took down some A-listers and we got some behind the scenes gossip. Now, whole segments of her act are just transcribes of reality television scenes. She doesn't even make funny comments about these scenes, she literally just acts them out. It's really, really lazy.
I still like her, but I hope she improves her material.
Oh, and the flats with that dress looked depressing.
[quote]The interesting thing is that her first assistant quit because of how she felt Kathy was treating the ex. I always wondered what the real story was.
Now that is very interesting. The tidbit I read about the departure of her first assistant suggested that she was let go because she thought of herself as a being a "celebrity" too and started making ridiculous demands.
This was when she was redoing her mansion, right? That ugly spider-looking thing up in the Hollywood Hills?
Uh, Sandra Bernhard may have been offered a reality show, but if she's trying to claim it was "The D-List" then she's full of shit. Kathy developed that concept as a weekly show at the Laugh Factory in the early 2000s and sold it to NBC as a "Curb Your Enthusiasm"-style sitcom a few years before it eventually became a reality show:
[quote]It's embarassing to see how cheap the old hag is. Mercedes? Pssh! Kathy drives a Maserati!
I'm glad others are starting to see her money-grubbing ways. I used to 'Like' her on Facebook and that's when it became painfully obvious to me that this woman is ALL about the money, and only sees "the gays" as walking/talking wallets. Every fucking post was trying to sell SOMETHING. Every single one! When it spiraled down to the point of publishing a book with her fucking MOTHER as the supposed author, I'd about had it. Then one day she was selling some sort of custom Snuggie with "Tip It" written on it, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I unliked her on Facebook and can't stand the woman now. She is attention-starved and money-hungry to the core.
R64, if she were that big of a user and a fraud, there is no way Anderson or his mother would allow her into their lives, how would it benefit them to have a friendship with someone they know is a fake (and they WOULD know because neither one of them are stupid). I don't believe for a second that their friendship isn't real. And R65 is just wrong on everything.
[quote]I kind of resent the fact that she was merciless with Clay Aiken, but never a peep about Anderson Cooper or even Lance Bass. It's hypocritical and brown-nosing
Maybe Clay was not a friend of hers.
I've watched most of her comedy specials, they're usually interesting enough to watch once, but this was the first one I thought she bombed. She's repeating herself and her obsessions are boring. Just because she can do a bad French-Canadian accent doesn't mean we need to be subjected to a endless, and quite boring retelling of an encounter with Celine Dion, who frankly isn't all that anyway. I'm hardly impressed with Kathy's taste that she's an avid Celine fan. Kathy's become repulsive and needs to go away for a few years.
The cunt got a taste of her own medicine when she was on Jay Leno once and he said that she's like the ugly girl that the drunk guy in a bar takes home! I was never much of a Jay fan before, but I was laughing my ass off when he said that! And Kathy actually had the nerve to start crying after the show because of it after all the people's she's made fun of!
This is why I don't like comedians - they dish it out and make fun of people all the time, but if you try to make fun of them, they start crying like fucking wimps.
R75 this Thursday at 10 pm. Can't wait.
[quote] This is why I don't like comedians - they dish it out and make fun of people all the time, but if you try to make fun of them, they start crying like fucking wimps.
You don't understand comedy, or comedians, at all, then.
Climb out of her ass, hon, it aint pretty in there.
Anderson and his mom are the queens of opportunism. Like attracts like. He used his brother's death in a pretty shameless manner while simultaneously claiming he was a private person who didn't want to make the news about him (to justify being in the closet). He was virtually dragged out of the closet, even though it was everywhere online. Idiot.
to whom is r79 trying to respond?
I agree with R72. That schtick with Anderson is growing old. She treats him like a piece of furniture or a pet. He's a grown man for god's sake. And she's way too old to be behaving that way and attempting to be funny in the process. It's really not funny anymore. Maybe it's because now that EVERYONE knows he's gay (and not just the gay community and other in-tuned individuals) it's really embarrassing for him as well. Like she's trying to convert him or something, her little pet project.
R88 = Kathy
[quote] Now, whole segments of her act are just transcribes of reality television scenes. She doesn't even make funny comments about these scenes, she literally just acts them out.
R76. I feel kind of badly criticizing Kathy because she's been so funny in the past--and she still is to a point. But her comedy dig on real A and B listers seems to be gone.
However, you make a good point. I hate those Real Housewives shows and don't watch them. So for Kathy to simply recant dialogue from those shows is disappointing. It's just not funny to me. Those Real Housewives people are not even D-listers. They are F and Z listers. In other words, I wish we din't even know these trashy non-celebrities.
Kathy, please rethink your comedy. Okay fine, you don't have to criticize Anderson Cooper. But does nearly your entire act have to be garbage such as the Real Housewives and Honey Boo Boo?
When Kathy was a guest on Rosie O'Donnell's OWN talk show, Rosie talked about how it was her who introduced Kathy to Cher and Jane Fonda, with the warning that she never talk about them in her show. Kathy agreed and ended up becoming better friends with both of them than Rosie ever was, which I'm sure doesn't sit too well with Rosie. I think Kathy used Rosie to gain entry into the A-list and then kinda dropped her and stole her friends. Kathy is a user.
R94 Maybe Kathy became better friends with them because she's probably a kinder, more mentally stable person?
I have respect for Rosie, but she's got more baggage than a luggage carousel at Heathrow and one never knows what is next with her.
[quote]When Kathy was a guest on Rosie O'Donnell's OWN talk show, Rosie talked about how it was her who introduced Kathy to Cher and Jane Fonda, with the warning that she never talk about them in her show. Kathy lives in the same vicinity as Cher & Jane. Rosie does not. For that reason it seems logical (to me at least) that Kathy would hang out with them more than Rosie.
I think she looks good in R54's pic but I so wish she'd stop wearing her hair in that straight across bang style. It does her no favors at all.
Never liked her to begin with. Besides simply being unfunny, Griffin always struck me as a slimy, celebrity-gossip-obsessed, attention-whoring vulture. No different than a cunt-equipped Harvey Levin or Perez Hilton (or quite a few DLers, now that I think of it): voyeur-parasites who thrive on every nauseating, trivial detail of celebrities' lives....probably the only way such people can achieve an orgasm.
No, for intense, intelligent stand-up, give me a George Carlin or a Bill Hicks any day over this redheaded, squawking banshee.
[quote]That schtick with Anderson is growing old.
Yes. That must explain why the ratings for their NYE show were so high.
I started thinking of her differently when, despite her persona of being "an open book", she never once admitted her former assistant/"dog walker"/"tour manager" Tom was her boyfriend for FOUR YEARS. And, when they broke up, not a peep out of her either. It's fine if she wants to keep her personal life personal, but it irked me that she sold herself as someone who shared everything and had nothing to hide. And that fake relationship with Steve Wozniak wasn't even funny.
I always wonder how Kathy Griffin felt about 'The Comeback'. She and Lisa Kudrow were in the Groundlings together, and then Lisa ended up with the sitcom that Kathy wanted D-list to be.
Wait, she dated Tom? Why?
Yes, Kathy Griffin is indeed always "on."
R99 = poor alcoholic "I raised a pedophile" Maggie!
WHET her sort of hot ex-husband - the one she claimed stole all her money? Remember him from Season 1 of "D List" ?
Her skin has that translucent quality. Somebody needs to get her some vitamin D.
R105...well, believe it or not, he gave up his IT business and went back to school. Columbia University. He runs a charity that raises money for autism. He also lost all that weight, competes in triathlons, and is a sexy bear type now. So, in other words, once he ditched her, he became a big success.
Really, R100? I thought Tom was around during the first season when she was still married to Matt, which would mean he couldn't have been her boyfriend, or at the very least didn't start out that way.
Can someone post details about the pervert brother? This thread is the first I've heard anything about it.
R( 108) Tom didn't show up until season 3. Until then her only assistant was Jessica. I'd love to hear the real reason she quit.
She sucks. Yesterday's news.
R99 can you post the ratings here or a link. I'd like to see that. I'd also like to know if the viewers dropped in the middle of the show at all and maybe went up at the end. Because it got very dull in the middle. She wasn't funny at all. People watch just to see what she'll do to Anderson next. It is getting old.
Here r109 [quote] "My brother Kenny who is now passed away and was a pedophile and went to prison and obviously wreaked a lot of havoc on my parents and the family...had an extremely profound impact on me. Maybe in some ways, the most influential relationship of my life. Meaning, when you grow up in a house with someone with that, I don't know if you call it energy, but he was violent. I saw him beat his wife right in front of me. You know, he was a pedophile. He was extremely sexually inappropriate with me ever since I was a teeny kid. It kind of shapes the way you see the world. For me, it is definitely tied into my trust issues I have with guys. [...] In a way, it maybe even contributed to me having a really dark sense of humor."
If you believe her, remember Roseanne accused her father of being a pedophile and then recanted decades later. They're both similar attention whores. Kathy had previously seemed to hate him just for being a drug addict. That's why he went to prison, but that quote makes it look like he was a convicted pedophile. I think she'd embellish to increase interest in her book, anything for a buck.
And she's never given specifics of her brother's pedophile behavior. It's very ambiguous and vague> I agree...she hated him for his drug addiction, and perhaps even feared him in that regzard. But she's curiously vague about the pedophillia, which seems odd for her. I think she's lying.
R108: Tom showed up on Season 3. At the time, Kathy introduced him as "some guy" she hired because she felt a little creeped out being in that big house by herself. If you look online, there are photos of she and Tom walking hand-in-hand (on her time off, not when she's walking offstage -- she always has someone hold her hand then because she can't see well due to botched Lasik).
Didn't she reveal, after the fact, that he'd been her boyfriend? That whole ruse was really weird.
[quote] People watch just to see what she'll do to Anderson next. It is getting old.
It's not, the ratings were still high. Why do you think she keeps coming back. No one watches Fox NYE and of course they watch to see what she's going to do next to AC, that's the whole point of it. If AC's on CNN, Kathy will be back.
The great Joan Rivers summed up this Kathy Griffin unfunny, fugly, phony, screechy vulture-whore perfectly at her own roast: Rivers physically popped Griffin in the face and told her, "Kathy Griffin, dear, you are a THIEF! You stole my act, you stole my gays, and you stole the face of the Burger King! I'm not happy about this!"
R55/R64/R66/R89/R104/R107/R116 clearly could use some psychiatric assistance to work out her issues with Kathy and AC and his mom.
Wanna tell us the Barbara Walters/"astroglide" story again?
Pure and simple - she stole Joan Rivers act. She met Joan while she guest starred on Brooke Shields show. Joan is very upfront and honest about how gays gave her a career in the West Village and how they've always been there for her no matter what and are very loyal.
Fast forward - guess who is dissing on celebs (like Joan did) and pandering to gays?
I used to like her, but I'm sick of the 'my gays' shit too. She didn't have a gay following before the show - it was pure marketing.
Oh - and Margaret Cho is guilty of the same thing, although I think it was genuine with her.
R120, what an obvious method of deflecting the truth about yourself, but troll-dar says it all sweetie.
R119...listen asshole, I can post here as often as I like. Perhaps you might benefit for some therapy given your bizarre sycophantic attachment to two complete strangers.
R120, there's nothing worse than you trolldar trolls. Go away loser.
Butt ugly Griffin tries way too hard to be edgy and relevant.
Kind of like Madonna.
She stole Joan Rivers' act, and now it looks like she's trying to steal her face as well.
Joan Rivers was a mean bitch on stage. No one was safe and she was hateful. Anyone remember EAT jokes about Elizabeth Taylor? Go listen to "What Becomes a Semi Legend Most". Anyone who thinks Kathy just stole Joan's stick just doesn't remember. Joan's only saving grace may have been that she was just as hateful about herself as she was everyone else.
Kathy has never ever been as unabashedly ugly about the people she talks about like Joan. At her worst she was calling Aiken gay and he was eating it up.
R127, bullshit. Calling Aiken's poodle a "fog" (fag/dog)...that's not mean? Rivers was never as homophobic as Griffin.
She was funnier when she was hanging out with her friends Dennis Hensley and Tony Tripoli. She betrayed them somehow, and they no longer associate with her. Anyone know what happened?
Kathy alluded to the fact that Tony and Dennis went behind her back and tried to get Bravo's producers to film the two of them more, do more confessionals, etc.
That seems unlikely. Highly unlikely. Why go 'behind her back'? They were her 'main gays' on the show, and it seemed like she wanted them featured. More lies from Kathy.
I anyone even checking for this unfunny cunt anymore? She hasn't been entertaining in years.
R124 = eldergay pedo.
R133...you're completely nuts. On what basis are you calling me a "pedo", asshole? Shut up, weirdo!
R128 Clay Aiken has 2 dogs and they are Border Terriers not poodles, and it was mean. Even worse was her making fun of his baby son.
She seemed to genuinely like Clay though. She always talked about how talented he was, that she had all his CDs and to see him in concert if you can because he is that good.
I lover her take on Paul Rudd, she's spot on.
R136 what did she say about him?
Good question...have never, ever heard her mention Paul Rudd.
She is so dated and replacing A-list stars with Reality TV stars and shows in her act is a pretty sad statement about her and pop culture in general.
55-minute warning; on Bravo at 10pm tonight
Funny, we always hear how ruthlessly loyal 'the gays' are from various gay icon celebrities. Well it looks like the tide is turning for miss KG! You in danger, gurl!
Oh crap Liza just cancelled tonight!
An empty seat, with the flowers she was going to give Liza.
Do you think Liza was actually scheduled to appear, or was it a hoax to get ratings?
another white trash americano
Why does her show now start with "Previously, on Kathy..."? It's not like her talk show has a plot and you need to know what happened last week in order to make sense of this week's show! It's completely bizarre and senseless.
Her little Pregnant at 52 thing was painfully unfunny.
Kathy's new stand-up special premieres tonight on Bravo.
