Christopher Street & environs
Is this the gay part of NYC again? I have a friend who lives in NYC, and he always seems to be hanging out in that area.
- It's gay for a. gentlemen of a certain age; and b. gay African-American kids visiting from Harlem & Jersey.
Not what it used to be, of course.
- It's mostly straight families and NYU trash now. Young gay men can't afford it and are in Brooklyn. The few gay men who still live in the WV are "of a certain age."
- Chelsea is New York's gay capital, has been for a while now.
- Is your friend 80 or a ghost?
Hell's Kitchen
- Yes.
1976
- He's in his 30s, R4.
- It's too bad that it has become dangerous because it really has atmosphere, unlike Hell's Kitchen & Chelsea. The little cobblestone streets & shops, trees, what not. I still go to Ty's occasionally. But I remember Sunday afternoons on Christopher St. used to be packed, going on bar tours and going to visit friends there.

Absolutely.
1992
- What changed? A WEHO-like transformation where they gays were forced out?
- The neighborhood was colonized by merchant bankers, hedge fund managers, trust fund trash, and the like, R9. Rents soared and so long interesting shops, the butcher, baker, candlestick maker, and bookstores. Part of Bleeker Street looks like Madison Ave. South now.
Yeah, I'm an eldergay and I know things change, but watching the Village's charm and character disappear is heartbreaking.
- This change happened at least 20 years ago.
- I haven't been in that area in years. Is the Dugout still around? I remember a lot of tranny trade in the area, especially near the West Side Highway.

Really? This is all I see when I'm there.

- This article is about the West Village at night in 2009.It's pretty shocking.

- There are 14 gay bars in HK right now. HK is the queermosexual capital of the world.

- Is the Village really like that article at R14?
- Hell's Kitchen was named that because the neighborhood was so impoverished and violent (it was originally called Clinton I think) now the name is kind of laughable considering they have a gay themed "urban resort" called The Out.
- R16, no it is not. The NY Post is a sensationalist rag.
- Manhattan is dead. The hot gay neighborhood now is: ASTORIA!
- Give me an uncut hairy Greek from Astoria any day, mary!
- Where are the Italian men? Little Italy isn't like it used to be.
- The Greeks who live in Astoria are born in the US. They are cut.
